My surgeon said CAFFEINE is FINE :)

Recommended Posts

Hey guys hope everyone is going well I'm officially 11 sleeps away from surgery :)

surgeon filled me in on some final things and I asked a few questions.

he said coffee is fine like 2-3 black coffees a day are fine which is good because I don't drink hot coffee but ill put a teaspoon in a shake and it gives me a boost in the mornings before a long day :D

I'm just getting bored waiting counting the days; marking off the calendar!

Had a little hunger craving today for the first time in weeks so had some fruit & chicken breast meat was very tasty!

I'm lucky my preop diet is just continue with low calories and low carbs and 3 shakes a day which I've been doing for weeks now anyways!

I'm just ready to get into the hospital and get the operation over and be relaxing in my private room it will actually be nice to be waited on by the staff for a few days :P surgeon said he will not make me leave until I'm healthy enough to be on my own as I live alone.

I'm just hoping for an easy stress free recovery :)

I love seeing inspirational posts from those who have had the RNY BYPASS already :D

thanks again

Mike

Thanks for the update, Mike. I had heard about the no caffeine rule, but your surgeon said it was okay. That is great if you are a caffeine addict, like me. I don't drink coffee or tea, but I do have my diet soda to give me a boost of caffeine in the mornings to get me going. I'm wondering how I'm going to change that up without having the caffeine. Maybe it won't be so bad after all. I guess it will depend on what my surgeon says and what my body will tolerate. I've heard or read, I can't remember which at this point, that you need to try different things once surgery is over because your palate will have changed and different things will taste better or worse.

So happy for you that you are so close to your surgery! Way to go! I know you've got what it takes to make it through the entire process to reach your goals. Just take it one step at a time and try not to rush your body.

HAHA! Look at me sounding like I know anything. I do have faith in you though, Mike, so hang in there.

You know, I had a real addiction to Diet Coke, but I found myself able to wean myself off using Powerade Zero and Crystal Light in Water. As for caffeine, I have a caffinated coffee every 4-5 days. I haven't had any headaches or any problems. So it's doable! Lemon lime Gatorade Zero is pretty good too I just prefer the Powerade Zero grape.

That's great that you can still have some caffeine! I watch a lot of WLS youtube videos and have seen several people say they mix coffee with their shakes.

I'm not a coffee drinker, but am a soda drinker. I'm proud to say I'm on Day 4 of NO SODA!! I'm living on crystal light and Powerade zero right now! LOL!!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
