Went well. The doctor is very pleased with my results and we talked about my volume that I can eat. She said to be careful that I could stretch out my tool. But she said she wasn't worried about me eating 3c of salad cuz it is very Water filled.

129.4lbs is my most recent low. I briefly saw 128.4 (for a hot minute), but then as usual, sprang back into the 130s. It usually does that at least a few times before moving down to defend a lower weight. So no idea what to expect. LOL. I'm just relieved to be off the 134-135 boundary. LOL.

Seriously. If I don't go grocery shopping soon, I'm going to have to go back to eating all the sugar-laden stuff in the pantry...

Also, had a weird day of slimies and chest fullness yesterday. I barfed up slime 4 times. Finally took a Nexium around 8pm and felt a little better by bedtime. And this morning I feel fine again.

@nymatnldy, missed responding to this...since Fluffy mentioned you may be talking to me, I'll throw in my two cents (sorry if you weren't talking to me!)

Are you able to keep the weight off.

Well, I am only 1yr, 4mnths post op, so I think its a little early to tell if I "have kept the weight off". But I think I may be able to, given the huge changes in my eating and exercise habits. I also currently have no deprivation feelings based on my current diet and I actually LOVE to run and be active, so this can only help me be successful, right?

I will say that based on what I read on here, I may be a bit of an outlier in that I can take in a relatively high amount of calories for my frame (I'm sure there are others out there like me, they just don't post as much as I do, or not at all).

I'm 5'2", 114 lbs (as of this morning), and I can maintain a weight of 113-118 lbs on about 1800-2000 cals*. I think though that my exercise and strength training throughout weight loss phase really helped to amp up my metabolism. That and just dumb luck.

*I have barely exercised in the past 2 months due to PS recovery, and it looks like I maintain around 1500-1800? Hard to tell as I don't have enough data, and my cal intake has been all over the place.

I had to keep my calories low or I gained.

How many calories are you taking daily, on average? And are you looking to lose weight, or maintain?

I hate the slimies. And yes, grocery shopping makes all the difference in my ability to keep eating decently.

This week my calories were in the 1000 - 1200 range each day. My carbs were around 100, and my Protein at about 80. I got some cottage cheese to try, I remember disliking it in my teens, but MsSS has inspired me to give it another go.

My weight stayed pretty consistent this week, which, given the increased carbs is awesome. Increased carbs tends to = Water weight gains for me. My size has shrunk, so I’d say I’m still losing fat.

Our household has worked out a meal scheme. My husband and eldest are each responsible for one dinner a week, I’m responsible for 2, and youngest (the best cook) is taking 3. The dinners each have to include a veggie as well as protein. Tonight I made chicken pot pie from one of the Skinny Taste books. I subbed gardein scalopinis for the chicken, and used vegetarian “chicken” broth. So, the whole family can eat it.

I have to say, the increased carbs have me feeling a MILLION times better. My weekend trail run is up to 4 miles, I added in tempo work to my during the week running schedule, and I don’t even feel like utter crap! I was really feeling run down prior to switching to maintenance.

Don't know whats going on...had another day of slimies :( I don't know if I am getting the slimies because I'm not eating much, or I'm not eating much because I have the slimies. I did just come back from costco shopping this AM, so there is now a drawer full of salad greens & other good stuff so maybe if I get back to my regular diet and start eating "normally" again, the scale will stop going down. The Kids says to just eat some Cookies. Mr. says cut back on the coffee. I like the Kid's suggestion better. 😎

9:00am - black coffee w/ stevia

5:00pm - * 1/2 the leftovers of 12:30pm meal * + 2 oz chicken adobo

8:00pm - * the rest of the leftovers of 12:30pm meal * + 1/2 cup canned corn niblets + 3 oz grilled chicken + 1 tsp garlic chili oil

Right? Slimies are an odd bird. When I barf up slimies, there is no heaving nor any shortness of breath like regular barfing. I just "burp" and all this slime comes out with like no effort. We're talking Ghostbusters-level slime. #yuck.

I love cottage cheese! Sometimes when I get an ice cream craving, and I don't feel like dealing with the sugar in the ice cream, I'll have a bowl of cottage cheese with frozen berries instead. Does the trick! Try it with black pepper! Or cayenne! Or any fruit! With seeds/nuts! I've even had it with anchovies, LOL. #dontJudgeMe

I hear ya on the carbs. I had been low carb-ing for about a week, and I can feel that I am more tired/slower than usual (Though this may be also due to the low cals as well). I had hoped that the low carbing would help reduce my lower abdomen swelling, but NOPE, swell hell persists. Also, I can already see my cheeks and eye sockets hallowing out again (but again, this is prolly also due to the low cal intake).

Do you notice if the increased carb intake has filled out your face again?

I haven’t noticed that. But, my dysmorphia is in full force, so it’s not easy for me to note changes.

My running speed was impacted in a MAJOR way. It was pretty startling. And my energy level after running was much better. Like, I felt fine and could do housework and cook afterwards instead of just crashing out for the rest of the day. I even feel up to running my planned short run today! That would not have been a possibility before.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
