Daily Menus for Maintenance

Recommended Posts

A thread for Maintainers to share our daily menus!

(This thread is a spin-off from another thread I started that was open to all people at different stages. Meant to start this one specifically for Maintainers a while back, but am just now getting around to it ;) )

Same format applies: To help keep things in perspective for everyone, let's try to note our height & weight (or BMI), gender, weight-status & how far out we are post-op (unless this is already stated in your side profile :))

Post as little or as much info as you want. If you track macros, feel free to share your Protein, fat, & carb details...if all you feel like saying is you had a really yummy taco, that's cool too.

Hahaha. Do you want outliers or only those maintainers who fit a certain group of specifics? :D

Any maintainers, really...I think it would be helpful for those who are getting their feet wet in maintenance, yes?

(Also helpful for longer-term maintainers who are running out of ideas of what to eat, and for those who need to get back on track after some slippage, and so on, and so on....LOL)

(Plus I'm fascinated by your own menus and I wanna see!!!)

How much in term of cups of vegetables is everyone getting through your the day? I probably get a cup of spinach (cooked with an egg) and a half cup of steamed veggies and that’s it. I feel like I need to get more.

I probably (on average) get in about 1 cup of raw veggies, not including my salad greens a day.

It's hard to say how much salad greens I eat in terms of volume (they are so leafy! lol). But put it this way: the past couple weeks, I've eaten the equivalent of about 1.5 - 2 romaine hearts + 2-3 fistfuls of raw spinach (or spring mix) per day

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
