Brent701 438 Posted October 10, 2019 Time to consider cosmetic surgery. Be very proud of your accomplishment. I am looking forward when I have to figure out those next steps but still have a ways to go. 1 1 sillykitty and VIKING 0424 reacted to this

nenes78 528 Posted October 17, 2019 I did feel a bit self conscious when the summer started, by the end it did not phase me much. I see my skin as a badge of honor, a reminder of where I was, where I am and with the correct decisions where I'm going. 1 VIKING 0424 reacted to this

nenes78 528 Posted October 18, 2019 I feel you 100%. Its like the the whole Bruce Banner/Hulk or Dr.Jekel/Mr Hyde dilemma. What I have to tell myself is there is no Fat/Thin me, it's just me. We are our own harshest judge. It will take time to process. My Surgeon told me bariatric surgery is being performed on the wrong organ, it should be on the brain not the stomach. It is difficult for us to comprehend in our mind the changes that happen quickly, it took us years of our lives to gain and maintain a heavy weight and literally lost it all in months. Funny thing is after almost 18 months for me, people around me forgot the Big Guy. My own kids were looking at pictures from a couple years back and said "Dad I don't remember you being that big". It's like the only person that remembers him is me. And I agree, these forums do help. I go to my local support group through my insurance, we have weekly meetings and it really helps. I have been going since I was cleared to go back to work. I find it as me time, and a place I can go and talk to people that relate to my situation. If you have a local support group for Bariatric patients I highly recommend going. If you don't maybe finding others locally starting one. Stick to it, you are doing fantastic 👍 1 1 Deedee12 and VIKING 0424 reacted to this

Brent701 438 Posted October 28, 2019 @336Mike how much was your TT and how was the recovery from that compared to the bariatric surgery?
336Mike 554 Posted October 28, 2019 336Mike how much was your TT and how was the recovery from that compared to the bariatric surgery?@Brent701 It was around $8700 for the FDL TT. The recovery pain wise was about the same - minimal, I have a high pain tolerance - but way longer. You really can overdo it then it catches up to you with soreness, swelling and lots of Fluid drainage. Definitely worth it though.
Phx_Downsizing 2 Posted November 5, 2019 Check on your insurance. Some will pay for surgery if it is causing problems, such as chafing and it is hanging low enough.
