mom2amrt 9 Posted October 5, 2019 Ok Ya'll, i am just over 2 weeks post op. I ate a bit much last night at dinner, and got sick. Lesson learned. I started having some crazy pains around the tiny tummy area early this morning. I had been going stir crazy in my house so I swept the kitchen, and did a load of dishes. (Husband at work 2 teens at school)I was still feeling ok. I went for a walk. Came in and rested a bit. However everything I eat or drink today is causing my pain and discomfort. Nausea, and some vomiting. I tried to reach my Dr but had to leave vm. Never got a call back. Im really kinda misserable. Feel like everything is sitting in the bottom of my throat. Anyone else ever experience this? What can I do or should I do?[emoji20] Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app 1 GreenTealael reacted to this
GreenTealael 25,430 Posted October 5, 2019 Can you call the hospital/center where you had surgery to see of there is someone oncall who can guide you/answer your questions? They may direct you to the ER anyway. ERs are for true emergencies and you may get less thorough attention than you need if they are in a rush/overburdened. (I personally would go to the ER if I had about 8 hrs to spare 😂) 3 Losingit2018, FluffyChix and elcee reacted to this

However, I had GB 2.5 months I was doing amazing, gold star ratings. A month later something changed. Drinking and eating became uncomfortable. Had a scope, nothing. Still no change feels like something in my throat and at bottom of esophagus. End result they tried to tell me its in my head. I demanded a recheck. New scoped booked and swolling test to confirm everything is going down ok. Good luck. mom2amrt 9 Posted October 18, 2019 Thank you for checking in!! My surgeons office didnt seem very interested in this obstacle. I was told to go back to all liquids for a few days... I did call my PCP, and he informed me that when I feel like something is "stuck" to try a few sips of tolerably hot Water to see if it helps break it down a bit to help it move on through. This has helped some. I will be 1 month post op tomorrow, and Im still terribly sore on the left side and I keep feeling "catches" and super sore, sometimes catch my breath pain that comes and goes with movement and bending. My husband says its just everything healing up on the inside. But I plan to bring it up at my next appointment on the 28th. 1 SabP reacted to this
Panda333 276 Posted October 18, 2019 @mom2amrt this was me 3 days ago. I ended up gong to the Er. morphine made me feel better but they did a CT scan that showed a partial bowel obstruction. not sure if that is what caused my severe cramping....they did all sorts of xrays and tests and said I was fine. but they had me on zero food and Water for 3 days. Now I'm back home on liquids sort of wishing i had the sleeve. This re-routing of intestines is no joke. no one every told me why i was cramping
FluffyChix 17,415 Posted October 18, 2019 When in doubt, MOM. Sometimes poo backs up and causes cramping, nausea, and vomiting. It gets stuck or partially obstructed.

Losingit2018 1,170 Posted October 18, 2019 (edited) Not sure if this has already been mentioned but. Papaya enzymes have been a lifesaver for me in times when I eat too much or something is just hard to digest. I keep them in my purse and at home at all times. Btw, call and speak to his nurse. Actual vomiting can be bad. Just retching a little off the top isn't a cause for concern. You should still be on anti-nausea rx, like zofran...Also, sitting still and using a heading pad or pack on stomach helps.Sent from my SM-G975U1 using BariatricPal mobile app

Bariatric Brad 1 Posted November 5, 2019 @Panda333 I feel you. I’ve learned that waiting isn’t always smart. I was approaching 5 weeks post-op this past weekend, and aside from (still) very sore sides was doing well. Woke up from a nap writhing in pain and thought it must be gas. Took Miralax, but 9 hours later I finally went to the ER and after a CT scan they found a small bowel obstruction (intestines had popped through one of my sutures) and I was in surgery 3 hours later. Luckily due to timing there was no resection needed). Back on the mend and feeling good. GB surgery is the real deal.
