Good morning all! I am looking to see if anyone has gone thru the same thing as I am now.

So I had my sleeve surgery in Jun 2016 weighing in at 255. After the surgery, I lost down to 135 within the first 2 years because I was very strict in staying below 20 carbs daily and working out. After the 2 years though, I was getting to a point where my face looked sunken and I just felt like I definetly didn't want to lose anymore. The problem was that by sticking to my diet, I kept losing a few pounds each week. So I started to add more carbs back slowly. Over the last year though, I have gained about 15 pounds. I now am planning to go back to my orignial diet to try and lose the weight.

Did anyone have any issues with weight gain? If so, were you able to get back on track and lose weight? I'm just worried that my body won't get back into that mode of losing weight like it was after the surgery.

Any suggestions? Thank you all!

I did gain weight - but that was typical bounceback most people get after hitting bottom (c. 12 lbs for me). I don't really need to lose it, though, as I'm still in a normal BMI range and feel pretty good at my current weight - and although it's a daily challenge to maintain, it IS do-able (I'm afraid it would be too much of a struggle to go back down into the 130s, even though I miss them!!)

people lose re-gain all the time, though. You have to go back to basics - Protein first, then non-starchy veggies, and then, if you have room, a small serving of fruit or healthy carbs. If you're a calorie counter, then figure out your average calorie intake now, and start cutting - to do it gradually, cut 100 calories a week and see what happens. If it doesn't work, cut another 100 the following week. Rinse and repeat. Once you're back in weight loss mode, you WILL lose weight - but it's likely to come off a lot slower than it did during that magical first year.

Thank you both for the information.

One last question, are you all still sticking with the meals at Breakfast, lunch, and dinner plus mid-morning & mid-day Snacks. Are just the main meals?

I have a mid-morning snack and a mid-afternoon snack in addition to the three meals.

It depends on my goals for the day.

Some days I do IF or TRE (intermittent fasting or time restricted eating windows). Then I make sure to hit my Protein goals for the day along with the calorie load/carb load I'm doing for the day.

Other days, I eat to hunger. But the difference is, I will schedule my meals. 2-3 main meals. And I will allow a snack of x y or z (very specific choices at specific timings) if needed. So it is a structured thing, not grazing, not standing at the fridge wondering what I "feel" like eating. Nope it's more like (1 cup of veggies and Greek ranch dip-homemade, or 1 hb egg, or a lite string cheese + 1 slice BH turkey or everroast chicken, or 1/2 tiny gs apple with 1/2 oz walnuts-raw), that sort of thing.

Some days I schedule for a sf popsicle at night, or a sf Jello, or sf protein pudding, or chia pudding.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
