1 week post op severe stabbing pain on left side.

Recommended Posts

So I’m one week post op. Just had my appointment yesterday and everything was looking good. Last night I developed a stabbing pain on my left side when I move. Thought maybe gas pain. Took some gas x went to bed. Well this morning I’m still in pain when I move or press on side. Not running fever. Think I just pulled something? Not likely to be a leak right?

Please call your surgeon's office and talk to them. Good luck!

Hi .I am day 6 post up. I experienced the pain on my right side last night . I mean I was thinking I am going to be paralysed. I had pain totall my right side and my side wound . I went to clinic they check every thing. They prescribed diclofenac .As long as you are doing good with your food metabolism and urination it isn't any worry about leakage

I had similar happen post op. I can’t think of the name of it but it was where a pocket developed and did not fill up with blood as it should. It was where tissue had been removed.

I was actually on the floor crying in pain. Surgeon on call said he would meet me in the er if I wanted but lancing the area would be excruciating. Instead I was instructed to use warm compresses. This helped me immensely.

Do check with your surgeon to be safe.

Tammy

I have that same pain today and am also waiting for a call back from the surgeon. I know that I had an abscess when I left the hospital, so it might be that. Looking forward to what you find out!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
