Typing to you guys from the hospital. Had my surgery about 12 hours ago. I haven’t looked at my incisions but I’m told there are 6 and look good. I’m drinking Water And broth about t 4-6 oz/ hour. That does not make me full wondering if this is normal? I also barely feel pain. I didn’t have any gas issues at all.... all is good and II plan to go home tomorrow. Appreciate everyone who read and responded and those who IM-ed me. I guess I’lll go over to the post op thread, lol.

I'll be going into surgery 19 days I hope my recovery is as smooth as yours :D

I am super frustrated with this 12 month process I have to go through because of insurance. I am 6 months in and done all of my prep work, tests etc. I am ready now just sitting and waiting on insurance. Anyone have any experience in getting insurance to move up time frame?

I would just say you have to be proactive, call your doctors business office, call your insurance company. I even called my employers hr department. I work for a large company and they outsource people to advocate for insurance for situations such as this. I put out out an APB like I have to get this done! lol I do understand it's an insurance game to deny at first. I've posted my story but I went through the whole 3 month pre-program even got Pre-approved. They went to submit me and then..boom..I was denied. I unleashed holy hell and it worked.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
