Had surgery earlier today and feel good

Recommended Posts

Typing to you guys from the hospital. Had my surgery about 12 hours ago. I haven’t looked at my incisions but I’m told there are 6 and look good. I’m drinking Water And broth about t 4-6 oz/ hour. That does not make me full wondering if this is normal? I also barely feel pain. I didn’t have any gas issues at all.... all is good and II plan to go home tomorrow. Appreciate everyone who read and responded and those who IM-ed me. I guess I’lll go over to the post op thread, lol.

liquids won't make you feel full - they go right through you. You likely won't feel full until you start eating solid food.

also, a lot of people don't feel much pain with this surgery (some do, of course - but a lot of us don't). I didn't feel much pain with mine, either. Easy peasy!!

I agree about the pain. Compared to a total knee, open abdominal hysterectomy, and thoracotomy, (and also a fractured pelvis and broken ribs) this was a piece of cake. I used some Tramadol for a day or two, then just liquid Tylenol for about a week. The most painful part was getting out of bed - that sideways twisting was not nice. That's where my firm little pillow was my best friend. I held it against my tummy every time I coughed, twisted, or even walked for the first week. See if they have something like that at the hospital before you leave. They might call it a "splint" pillow - to splint your abdomen. At the last 2 hospitals I was at, the volunteers made them.

AZ Hiker, you remind me of the joke about the lost dog, one broke down ear, partially deaf , recovering from mange, so missing fur, noticeable limp, recently neutered. The punch line- Answers to the name of LUCKY, You, my dear, are one plucky lady and I am so glad things went well, about time, and now You Are marching forward into Good Health! I do believe You Will Be a SUCCESS and like the old commercial for Timex Watches " You took a Licking and Kept on Ticking!" You are a Grade A Number One Inspiration to Us All!

Congrads - Since my brother did it first he suggested highly that you get moving. I gotta admit i was walking the Hospital and out the next morning. Unlike all you lucky ones i had a ton of pain with mine but only for a few weeks.

Good luck and New life about to start - Enjoy the ride

Congratulations! You are lucky. I was miserable for 36 hours after surgery with nausea and pain. I had major surgery on my head/neck previously and thought this would be no sweat but I was wrong! I’m glad i didn’t know ahead of time how awful I’d feel. Guess it’s different for everybody. Anyway, the nurses told me that with Bariatric surgery you usually just feel better and better, not worse. So it looks like you might be free and clear as long as you stick to the post op diet. Good luck 👍

Ha! It's called LIFE! And developing resilience! And perspective. My poor little daughter-in-law has 10/10 pain with a mosquito bite! No kidding! My favorite all time quote:

" Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather a skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, "Wow! What a ride!" Hunter S. Thompson

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
