caroconcerta 32 Posted September 30, 2019 Hey y'all, so I tried searching on here for an answer but found nothing. I had surgery three weeks ago, and for the last three days I've had constant issues with excess saliva and mucus in my mouth. I've tried no dairy, alkaline Water, and returning to liquids, but to no avail. One day I also had heartburn but it was from some tea I had. I don't really know what to do as even water causes me to foam up and have to spit into a cup! Today I'm trying to take a break from liquids (after getting 64 oz in) and haven't had solid food, just Protein Shakes. I am going to reach out to my doctor about this but I have no idea what is causing this. Any ideas?
elcee 3,341 Posted September 30, 2019 You may have a stricture, I would try and see your Dr ASAP, you don't want to become dehydrated
Angie2.0 0 Posted September 30, 2019 Go see your doctor ASAP. I had this issue for months after VSG I wasn't able to hold down anything even liquids like h20. After several ER trips for dehydration and Abdominal pain, plus 4 cts, 2 xrays, and various scans and blood testing, I had to have emergency gallbladder removal surgery. My gallbladder had stopped functioning correctly was full of dark almost black sludge and was beginning to effect my other organs. Even after surgery Still had foam and throwing up. This was so bad it caused me to develope a hiatal hernia. The hernia I was told would heal over time and as I lost more weight. It took about 7 months to even see a slight improvement. Hope this helps you, and wish you the best in your weight-loss journey. 🙂
S@ssen@ch 745 Posted September 30, 2019 I also vote to contact your doctor asap. It could be something as simple as GERD and needing some PPIs or it could be something significant like a stricture. But, you won't know unless you contact your doctor and give him a chance to properly diagnose it.
caroconcerta 32 Posted September 30, 2019 Update: Last night after trying to take my antacid medication I ended up puking up stomach acid with a bit of blood in it. Not good. I called my surgeon and nurse and my nurse said this was normal and that something often triggers GERD. I am waiting to hear from my surgeon but he's very lax about stuff like this so far. I'm trying not to panic but I also feel like they won't take any of this serious until my stomach is fully healed or something. @S@ssen@ch, @Angie2.0, and @elcee thank you so much for answering. I've actually had a nightmare of 3 weeks after surgery. It started out with my surgeon accidentally poisoning me and not answering my calls/messages for 1.5 weeks after surgery. I had to report him to the hospital for negligence after I went to the er being unable to keep down any Water due to wrong dosage of medication.
