6 1/2 weeks post-surgery - weight loss stopped

Recommended Posts

I am 6 1/2 weeks post surgery and have lost 46lbs so far. This last week my weight loss has come to a complete stop (since I've been able to start actually eating). I don't feel like I'm eating too much - most days I can't even get enough calories in - any suggestions??

this is a normal part of the process unfortunately. stay on the diet plan and drink Water, focus on Protein and it will pick up again. stalls are a normal part of this, your body is kind of like "um this isn't supposed to be happening" so it stalls, trying to hold onto everything. It will pass, I promise!

My uneducated reasoning is the body needs time to adjust and shift its stuff. It usually lasts about a week, Take a few days away from the scale and love yourself. Protein and Water first.

For me too! I’ve managed to kick start it again by weighing in only once a week, getting all my fluids, and adding exercise along with following my food plan.

Its difficult for me because I travel for work and sometimes my body doesn’t want to cooperate, but Hanging on to this for dear life and hope the scale starts moving again soon.

We can be frustrated together but we can never give up.

I went through something pretty similar but recently its picked back up and QUICK!

This is my timeline

7/10 Surgery day -340

7/17 -324

7/24-315

7/31-312

8/7-312

8/19-305 (i took time off of looking at scale)

8/26 299

9/2- 298

9/9-298

9/16- 294

9/18- 289

9/25- 282

its weird how it works sometimes but nevertheless it will come off. stick to your program and good things happen.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
