Dumping without diarrhea?

Recommended Posts

I have a question, is it possible to experience dumping but without diarrhea? I overindulged over the weekend and saturday night was very nauseous, stomach pains/cramping, clammy, I ended up having a very large BM but not diarrhea. I've had this before after eating something/too much of something I shouldn't. Anyone else ever felt like they maybe had the dumping but no diarrhea? Just curious, thanks!

I have had several dumping incidents, none of them with diarrhea (nor a BM at the same time). From what I have gathered on this forum, my dumping symptoms are essentially the same as everyone's, just without the actual physical dumping. Fortunately, I've learned enough to avoid dumping and haven't had an incident in several months.

I'm glad you haven't had anymore episodes. I need to focus on not eating those trigger foods, honestly fat seems to be my biggest enemy. Fat and just if I eat too much, it's almost like instead of vomiting, I get bad pain and have a BM. It's weird but i've always been weird lol

I've never had dumping with the trots either. I get cramping, sweating, weakness and vomiting. Just had it three times (and that was enough!).

Luckily I haven't had anything that's made me vomit, other than Calcium supplements, its a blessing and curse. I just have to focus and make sure I eat what I'm supposed to. Fall is my favorite time of year so we have been having a lot of pumpkin goodies lol

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
