Stop watching My 600lb Life. LOL! Seriously, that show is cool, but gives all of us the impression that we should be able to lose 25lbs in a week! LOL!

The average rate of loss is 2-4lbs per week. That's it. If you weigh more, you "can" possibly lose a lot more than that per week in the early months. But that's not a general truth.

You're doing great. There will be stalls. I had a 3 week and a 6 week stall.

Thank you so much i appreciate it lol

I am right there with you! Headed into my 9th week (sleeved 7/22). I am seeing inches come off more than the bloody numbers on the scale...honestly, I stopped stepping on it. I just do my Water and Protein like others say. I am having issues where I don't really want to eat, but make myself to stay on track with the Protein. Things just taste funny!

Thank you i feel alot better!

I'd lost 26 lbs when I was at the eight week mark, and I managed to lose every pound of my excess weight. You are doing fine. As Fluffy said, quit watching My 600 lb Life. Those folks start out at MUCH higher BMI's than the average weight lost surgery patient does, so of course they're going to lose a lot more weight the first couple months than most of us are. You are right on target!

You are NOT a slow loser. You’ve lost 4.85lbs per week over the last 7 weeks. You are above average!!! Ave loss is 2-4lbs per week.

I’ve also got a perspective for y’all
I’ve lost about 84 pounds since surgery date on 2-6-19.
That’s an average of about 2.7 pounds per week which is at the LOWER end of the 2-4 pounds/week average. I’ve had 2 major stalls in which I didn’t lose much weight to speak of, but the INCHES were flying off of my body.
Always always always measure before deciding that you’re going to “fail at” WLS.

I’m not even 7.5 months post-op, but I’m going to hit GW sometime within the next 4-6 weeks.
And that’s me who is at the lower end of average weekly loss and hitting a couple hard stalls along the way.

I recently started taking my measurements as well. I was getting frustrated with the scale.

I lost a bunch of weight my first two months. However, since then it has been extremely slow. I lose less than < 5 a month. Sometimes not even that. I workout 5-7 times a week at a boot camp and do hot yoga. It gets frustrating, however, I do not mind the slow results as long as I am stronger and I can move so much better.

I plateau’d in week 3 for 10 whole days! But I am not discouraged, my body needs time to figure out what is going on. And, I had bypass surgery. I lost 20lbs in the first 2 weeks and 3lbs in the second 2 weeks. Since I am only in week 4 I can’t truly answer your question. Just don’t get discouraged

I have lost weight relatively slowly. 79 lbs. in 11 months. I try not to compare myself to other people. I follow my plan and am still, slowly losing. I don’t think comparing yourself to other people makes most people feel good. Run your own race, etc. If you don’t feel like you are doing as well as you want to, try to make today the day you stay on your plan. One day at a time. It sounds like you are doing just fine. Hang in there.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
