We have to make a 7ish hour trip on Sat, and then turn around drive it again to come home on Sun (my daughter is a competitive gymnast meet is on Sun)

On Monday due to some reflux issues they made me go back on liquids, my surgeon told me to slowly start adding back some solids.

I have some crunchy Protein Snacks from a bariatric site and I am thinking some drinkable yogurts (light and fit kind) Other than that right no I am completely blanking on what I should pack for the drive. I have been able to have deli meat moistened but somehow that turns my stomach just thinking about eating it while we are driving. I'm also not sure how things like Jello would be while driving. Have any of yall had drives like this? What did yall pack to eat on the way. I'll be 4 weeks post op on Mon.

TIA

Make a smoothie and put in in a travel mug and sip on it while you drive.Pudding or fruit cups are easy to eat while driving. I can take my Protein Powder, raw oatmeal, and a banana with almond milk. put it in a blender and it keeps me full until lunch. Put the meat in a baggie , and it will not be so gross.

I would pack some cold Protein Shakes. I don't even mind them room temperature if you don't want to pack a small cooler or something. I substitute them for meals all the time.

I’d pack a cooler with some cold stuff like Protein Shakes, yogurt, etc. And a thermos with Bone Broth. Laughing cow cheese also travels VERY well.

Yeah, KISS. Don't focus on food. Focus on drinking your fluids. Go to Protein Drinks for the drive there and back. The last thing you want is to get something stuck on the road and feel miserable and have to pull over to puke.

Make sure you bring plenty of Water to stay hydrated.

I love iced Protein coffee in a huge thermal cup. Or iced protein tea. Premier Protein Peaches and Cream or Strawberries in Cream are awesome in iced tea or iced green tea! YUM! Goes down easy. All you really need in life are your liquids and protein. Everything else is lipstick on a pig.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
