Marie1987 6 Posted September 12, 2019 Sorry to be dramatic, but I recently lost my job & I have found myself binge eating... I'm almost a year post-op (sleeve), so my binges are smaller/less drastic than they were, but this is terrifying behavior for me. Please, please, does anyone have any suggestions? I am trying to be cognizant, trying to "avoid" those foods I know are not good for me.... I hate seeing it, but I religiously log EVERYTHING that goes into my mouth, so I feel like I am not completely giving up. Please, anyone been here? Any advice? THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!! I don't want to EVER be back where I was, but I feel like this is a very slippery slope I am on & I don't want to fall... 4 Bastian, ARMoma45, ProudGrammy and 1 other reacted to this
Bastian 458 Posted September 12, 2019 Is this a binge like with Bulimia or is it a binge where you just scoff all the junk food you can and think 'stuff it' because it makes you feel better while you do it? Can you get any help from your bariatric team? Do you get long term help? I get 2 years but know others don't. If not can you organize some counselling for yourself. When the urge to binge starts can you force yourself to go out for a brisk walk or try and do something to distract yourself whether it is arts or house cleaning or running as far away from any food stuff as possible? This is a hard one isn't it because it is all head stuff. Have you got another job or some interviews lined up? Sorry I don't have any decent advice, our brains can be right pains in the neck with this kind of thing!
mcfluffington 179 Posted September 12, 2019 Quote Wow, I so feel for you. The best suggestion I have for you is volunteer somewhere till you have a new job. Hopefully that would take your mind off of your problem and take you away from temptation. I have a lot of food issues and when I get into a panic about them I eat more. I find that getting some control that is not too strict helps me. the minute I feel I am in deprivation mode I start too binge. 1 lyladyp reacted to this

Sorry I don't have any decent advice, our brains can be right pains in the neck with this kind of thing! Thank you for replying. I have reached out, but the best suggestion they have given me is to meal prep. This weekend I am taking my grocery shopping list & then spending some quality time in the kitchen getting ready for the following week. I will be trying your suggestion, about going for a brisk walk, or a physical distraction. I think being thrown off my schedule (no longer working 7am-5pm, 5 days a week), that really has effected me. Thank you for the really helpful suggestions!
