Libby63 57 Posted September 11, 2019 I ran across this video which has a pair of pants with Velcro in the waistband that can get you through a few sizes: https://youtu.be/oTxDpaYeuEw Starting at minute 7:19. I was wondering if any of you sew and can share pattern numbers that have worked best for you as you have lost weight? 1 GreenTealael reacted to this
GreenTealael 25,430 Posted September 11, 2019 *Burst In* Am I late !?!?!? No.. Whew 😂 I often altered my clothes as I lost weight insyead of buying new things. No pattern, just a tape measure to compare current size with clothing size then reduce the clothing by the difference (e.g. waist of clothing is 42 minus new my current waist 39 equals a 2-3 inch reduction.) Make sure to measure each part of the clothing that you are altering agains your new size and reduce each area by the proper amount. YouTube will have great tutorials that make it simple and easy to follow along. Good Luck 💜 3 Deedee12, LaLasQuest and FluffySaysForkIt! reacted to this
Libby63 57 Posted September 11, 2019 Thanks. I’ve never been great st alterations - I hate the ripping out but the challenge will keep me out of the kitchen so I guess it’s a good time to learn! 2 GreenTealael and Deedee12 reacted to this
FluffySaysForkIt! 823 Posted September 11, 2019 With jeans and pants you can try this method: 1. Turn the pants wrong side out. 2. Put them on and button/zip them up. (Still wrong side facing out.) 3. Start pinching the excess fabric places and carefully pin them with straight pins in a line that somewhat follows the original contours. 4. Carefully remove the pants and leave wrong side out. 5. Take to the machine and stitch on your new "line". Be sure to back stitch starts and stops for extra strength. 6. Remove all of your pins and try on. (Can readjust if needed.) You may wish to cut off the extra fabric once you are satisfied with the look. Hope this makes sense and helps! 2 Frustr8 and Rays of Sunshine reacted to this
