TX2NC 28 Posted September 10, 2019 Hi All, Looking for some help. I’m on my second week of pre-op diet and I’m 4 days in of just Protein Shakes and Water only. Here’s my problem, since about last night around bedtime, I keep having recurrent palpitations. I’m using Baritastic and for the past 4 days I’ve averaged around 700 calories, and about 18 carbs a day. I’m more than hitting the 60 grams of Protein with the 5 shakes. I researched a bit and it appears that irregular heart rhythm can occur with low calorie/low carb diets. Has anyone else experienced this? What helped? And how many carbs did/do are you supposed to have a day? Thanks!
momof3_angels 465 Posted September 10, 2019 It is possible your electrolytes are already at an imbalance. Add some sort of electrolyte to your Water and see if it helps. If not, call you doctor!
TX2NC 28 Posted September 11, 2019 Thank you! Today I set a goal of getting at least 30 grams of carbs and it seems to have helped a little. I’ll grab a Gatorade zero on the way to work tomorrow.
Zemi 72 Posted September 12, 2019 i ended up in hospital the other day with a crazy high heart rate and dehydration one week into pre-op ... checking with your dr and adding the electrolytes is a good idea to see if that helps you
Panda333 276 Posted September 15, 2019 Make sure your Protein Shakes don't have aspartame. I switched to aspartame free and the palptations stopped......
