Hair Loss [emoji45]

Recommended Posts

I actually have really thick hair, but for the last few weeks I have had a ton of hair coming out. I'm to the point I may wash my hair twice a week now and avoid brushing my hair a ton just because of how much is falling out. I'm now almost 4 months out as well with 82lb down. Can anyone tell me when their Hair loss slacked off?

Mine just slowed down at 5 months and also started around 4 months. I also have thick hair and have no bald spots as a result of the loss. I thought no you'll be fine.

Stated suddenly at 4 months stayed steady until 5.5 months then slowed. That could have been because I already lost so much. I already had Biotin in my Vitamin but stated using Nioxin at month 5. Now at 6.5 months still more than before but definitely slowed and I have baby hairs at my forehead but can’t see them on my scalp too much. I had it cut, only wash every 2-3 days, use Moroccan oil to prevent tangles. It may not help but mentally at least I know I’m doing everything I can to minimize it.

I also have very thick hair. Loss started at 4 months and stopped by 5 1/2 months. I think I lost about half my hair, and actually, for the summer, it has been great! I never knew how hot my hair was! It feels so cool and light now and easier to manage. I got it cut short before the loss started, as I didn't want to see great wads in the drain. Also, when it starts to grow out, a short cut will mean that I will have a full head again in no time. But I have to say, I have enjoyed thinner hair in the heat.

Same. 3 years out and still losing hair. Lots of thinning at the hair line and temples, ugh 😔

I started losing hair exactly two months post surgery and at four months it’s still falling. I too have reduced my hair washing frequency (thank goodness it doesn’t get as oily with my weight loss) because it was distressing pulling handfuls of hair from the drain. I have hair all over my house which I never had before. I take liquid silica (dietician recommended) and apply a treatment mask every second wash. I’ve had a couple of inches cut from the length but I can still put it up. I’ve been told it’s a combination of the anaesthetic and reduced Protein intake. My doctor said it will grow back but not when. 😩

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
