First fill - NOT GOOD!

Recommended Posts

So I went for my first fill on Tuesday. I almost passed out. I got really light headed and was near fainting. I hated it and now I am scared to get another one! Anyone else have this problem??? What is wrong with me??? I do fine with shots. I don't get it!

Also, I have NO restriction with 4.5 cc. My doctor never told me to not eat solids. I feel full slightly quicker, but still nothing like I did the week or two after surgery. I liked that feeling!!! Will it ever come back?

Please help!

Thanks,

Jamie

My doctor warned me that it may take 3 or 4 fills before I start feeling a significant restriction. I had my first fill about 4 days ago and don't feel any restriction yet.

Were you nervous leading up to your first fill? Have you let your doctor know how you felt after the fill and your fears about getting your next one? Maybe they can prescribe medication to take a few hours before our next fill to calm you down a little. They may also keep you there a little longer after the fill to ensure that you are feeling ok. It may also be helpful to practise deep breathing exercises - slow deep breaths from the abdomen (lower in your tummy) rather than from higher up in your chest. Counting to 5 as you inhale, pause for a count of 2 and then exhale for a count of 5.

All the best

Do you have problems with your blood sugar? My BS dropped during my first two fills. I would feel dizzy, very hot and lighheaded.

I just had my first fill and also had that "vasovagal" response, i.e. near-fainting. I knew what it was because my ex used to have them when he had blood tests. And I had one about 15 years ago at an ear wax extraction with a long needle.

I was not nervous, worried, stressful at all today. I love my doctor, totally trust him. The procedure didn't bother me.

a few minutes AFTER he had finished the fill and placed the bandaid, I suddenly felt extremely light-headed, began sweating and about a minute later felt I was going down for the count.

They gave me something to smell, wet rags, and about 5 minutes later I was good for the go.

He said it isn't uncommon.

It did not feel like nervousness. It felt utterly autonomic, like something I had no control over whatsoever.

I would prefer to not experience it again, of course. But if I do, I'm going to lie down and put my feet up on the chair. :)

Did you have this happen again?

He said they usually just occur the first time.
