Milaa 0 Posted September 6, 2019 Hey, i have my psychologist appointment in two weeks and i was curious as to what to expect from the this appointment! I don't nor have i ever had any psychological issues. How long after the appointment did it take to get an appointment with a case manager? Was it dsys, weeks, or months later? And how long after did you get your surgery? Just trying to see how far along i actually am in this progress and how much further do i have till i get a surgery date. It's been aong time coming so anxious now.
ahillig 136 Posted September 6, 2019 I did my psych eval pretty early on in the process but I think they're only valid for 6 months. Mine was simple, we chatted for a bit then I had to take three tests and based on our chat and the results of the tests I got the green light. He said I was a perfectionist with a slight touch of OCD which are actually good traits for someone having weight loss surgery. 1 Milaa reacted to this
Rays of Sunshine 34 Posted September 6, 2019 (edited) @Milaa my psych appointment consisted of an test evaluation(which was a bunch of paperwork of questions to answer about history of medical family myself and mental health , relationship with food etc.) then I met with the actual psych doctor to go over she asked me questions and at the end she gave me clearance for surgery. Once I had the psych letter of clearance from her and from all the other required clearances all of those were turned in to the bariatric coordinator then she would file with my insurance once filed I believe it was thirty days before I heard that I was approved once approved I was able to schedule my surgery pretty soon after that but because my surgeon requires a three month nicotine free clearance I of course had to wait till I was three months free of nicotine so I am proud to say that my surgery is coming up on the 16th of Sept. I can say the it was a lil of a lengthy process just to get to the surgery date but it all depends on how quickly you get all the necessary clearances completed and how quickly your insurance responds. I know that feeling of being anxious so I understand completely I do hope that this information has been helpful I wish you all the luck on you exciting journey!!! lingre 54 Posted September 7, 2019 I just had to take a 100 question computer test with lots of questions. Then I had to sit with the psychologist for about 30 minutes and talk about my weight loss struggles and talk about how this surgery would not solve my food addiction and I need to ensure I do the head work as part of this process. I am still a month out from surgery but already know if I see myself slipping to my old ways I will be scheduling some time with the psychologist on a regular basis if needed. Good luck to you but it should be a quick and easy process for you! 1 Milaa reacted to this
