AnnieD, this is my meal plan as well, EXACTLY that!! I do get full very quickly with dense Proteins like chicken and fish and have to finish my meals hours later. That plan has no Snacks before or after. I only do Protein Shakes for Breakfast when I am on the go to work and it takes me the entire drive to work. lunch and dinner is either plant Proteins such as lentils or refried Beans or fish or chicken.
I get roughly 400 to 500 calories a day. No grazing, no Snacks.
Break down of macros is typically 70g to 80 grams Protein Net carbs about 10, Fat 15 to 20, Sugar typically less than 10.
I definitely feel the restriction.

Did you go to Cleveland Clinic as well? I haven’t really tried any dense proteins yet. The closest I’ve come is scrambled egg, and that I can only eat 1/2 off. But puréed chicken chili today and was able to get 1/2 cup down no problem. I’m ok with entire Greek yogurts, too. With ricotta bake I can only do about 1/4 cup. So I guess I am feeling restriction? Maybe just not as much as I thought.

Do you know why you can't finish an egg? Im curious since you have an appetite. I'm also on the puree stage, and as someone who does not enjoy Breakfast or eggs, I will say they go down a lot easier without the yolk. 2 egg whites scrambled with greek yogurt. Keeps em a bit moist and fluffy and light.

Hey! Congrats on getting through surgery!

I was feeling the same exact thing when I had mine. I even think I posted on here asking if something was wrong with me lol :D

It'll take you a while to start to feel satiety. Maybe even a few months. Even then, you never want to reach the point where you actually feel full. Start getting used to stop eating when your 1/2 cup is done. Right now 1/2 a cup might look like a really small amount to you so you feel like you should/could eat more but once you get used to that being your maximum limit, your stomach will get the memo as well and you'll start to kinda feel when it's enough for you. At least that's what's happening to me. Just don't forget to ALWAYS measure everything! In cups and not using a scale. I started out weighing everything on a scale and only after a while did I realize how different it was from a measuring cup and how much I was overeating!

I also do think your doctors guidelines are pretty different from a lot of others. At two weeks I was told to eat 1/8-1/4 cup of soft foods. When I got to being a month out I started my solid regular diet at 1/2 cup. I guess doctors are different and in the end they probably know what's better for you. But right now don't expect to feel full anytime soon and don't try to get there! I remember being hungry ALL the time and I felt like I could probably eat like I used to without even feeling the difference in restriction. I would make myself leave the house and drive around just so that I'd forget about the hunger. Eventually I got used to how little I eat and I don't feel so horrible anymore! Yay!

So don't worry it's normal and you're not alone!

Good luck! :D❤️

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
