Looking for a Doctor in Chicago

Recommended Posts

I have PCOS and I am interested in lapband surgery I am looking for a doctor in Chicago.

I am terrified of the surgery. I already went to a seminar and the person who gave her testominal was rude and I do not want to go through them.

Instead of saying you'll be fine and if you stay at your current weight you will have other health related problems. She said you have a higher chance of being killed in a car accident.

I am in Chicago, and planning on the getting the lap band thru Day One Health. My surgeon is Dr. Jonathan Myers. He is a great guy. He is on staff at Rush Medical Center, where he also performs other WLS. From what I understand, he performs surgery at Day One only on Thursdays.

Joyouslyme, how would you rate the procedure at the University of Chicago? What did it cost, if you don't mind me asking?

I went to Day One Health off Michigan Ave in the City. They are great people, and I am comfortable with the doctor.

However, I want the procedure in January 2008. They told me that in order for insurance to cover it, I would need to show 6 months of weight loss attempts with WEIGHT WATCHERS.

Did you do this for your insurance company to approve you at Univ of Chicago?

I went to an information seminar at Day one.

I have done Jenny Craig three times (total of one year). Curves for three years. Nutri-system for two months.</p>

Hi I was banded on 12/21/07 by Dr. Guske of the Kane Center out of Alexian Brothers. They offer a very comprehensive program and I was very impressed. I would highly recommend there services.

I will also be getting banded through the Kane Center out of Alexian Brothers. I have my initial appointment with Dr. Kane Jr. on Jan. 15th. Even though I had to schedule my appointment a month after the seminar, they got back to me within a week to let me know what portion of the surgery my insurance would pay. So far I've been very impressed with their team.

Dan you will be impressed with the Kane Center but I would suggest that you be proactive with your appointment schedule and try and get appointments from cancellations. This will shorten the process because there program is becoming very popular.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
