Surgery Today

Recommended Posts

I am feeling really good today post surgery. After Initial pain for a couple of hours, I have been keeping all my Water down and walking regularly and using the breathing thing. Going to try to get some sleep soon. But I will say the Toradol Really helped. Wish it was one of my prescriptions going home instead of Percocet. I was having trouble with a bit of pain with the water initially. After that shot I’ve had no problems all day. Anyone have a similar experience?

Glad to hear your doing good! Was the pain with Water in your stomach or in your chest? I felt pressure in my chest the first few days. Also was the water cold? I was told to have room temp/ was given room temp in the hospital so I wouldn’t get stomach cramps/pain.

Welcome to losers club...first couple days after surgery are hardest, remember you just had most of your stomach removed. It does get better believe us, we all been there. But please be careful with medication.. remember its only a temporary tool to help get you through the surgery... "You got this"

Thank you. I am trying to stay off the pain medication. The Toradol is like a anti-inflammatory. Today the cuts are kind of hurting more than anything. Especially the bigger one. Hoping to get past this first few days. I know it will get better

Hey Alasyx! How was the whole going under and waking up process. My Surgery is set for Thursday and I’m absolutely anxious and worried about that part of this process.

Surgery went really well. But I cannot lie. I got to go home today on the second day and my incisions are really hurting. It’s hard to get up and down at all. I am fine when standing. Or laying down but those times when you have to get up or excruciating. Hope it passes in a couple of days

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
