OMG I cannot believe it but I think my fill just kicked it and its been what 3-4 weeks? I tried to eat something that was actually kinda mushy and I couldnt even finish what I put on my plate because I had a kinda stopping point where I knew I couldnt eat anymore and last night I had trouble with a steak. Its like a miracle rofl because i have never felt restricted before (in over a year). I know I have read that it could take up to four weeks for a fill to kick in but I dont think I believed that was possible. =)

hey, now you're REALLY going to feel what the band will do for you! it will really remind you to eat slowly, and not too much! and you won't feel hungry either--let me know that what i say is true! it has helped me tremendously!

Why didn't you have a fill earlier? Did you already have restriction from the band? I had my band 9-26-07 and have had my second fill. I am adjusting to this restriction level. Sometimes, I take a bite or two and have to stop. Crazy. and good. :biggrin1:

Congrats on feeling the restriction! I can't wait until I can actually see what the band can do for me. I had one fill and have NO restriction. I kind of feel bummed out, like I will never get to the point where I need to get. :-(

I have had quite a few fills but never experienced real restriction from them its just taken me a while. I know I have had some since I have lost almost 100 pounds, but I could eat Alot. I also never felt that stopping point people talk about but I have some of that now finally. Another reason its taken me so long is that I live 400 miles from my doctor so it gets really expensive to get there. So me taking over a year to get good restriction is not typical (Im sure), its just everything had to be really spaced out. GL too you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
