newlady1 67 Posted August 21, 2019 Has anyone experienced burping more than normal after surgery? Whether I'm eating something, drinking Water, etc consuming nothing Im burping. Now it's definately a relief when i burp but was just wondering why so often. Orchids&Dragons 9,047 Posted August 22, 2019 Very common. You used to have room in your stomach for the perfectly normal air you swallow while eating and drinking. Now you don't. 4 FluffyChix, GreenTealael, Deedee12 and 1 other reacted to this

KaysMommy 1,089 Posted August 22, 2019 I am 8 years out and still burp a lot more than I did before. It does get better. I find when I eat to much I burp more. Or when I’m on the onset of dumping I do. Thankfully I dont dump much anymore now that I know what to avoid. 2 FluffyChix and GreenTealael reacted to this

I experience that as well. Have to remind my self to eat and drink slowly 🥴Sent from my SM-G973W using BariatricPal mobile app 1 FluffyChix reacted to this

It's really a conscious effort. Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app 1 FluffyChix reacted to this
locjewel 14 Posted October 25, 2019 I'm 3yrs post surgery and burp excessively when I go too long without food. Once I start eating it settles down until it's time for me to eat again. Just started this a few months ago.Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app
Frustr8 7,886 Posted October 26, 2019 Your Digestive system seems to be saying "You -Hoo, Let's think about ME down here", sounds like it got your attention, didn't it?
newlady1 67 Posted October 26, 2019 Yesssss the burping is crazy but it's also a relief when it happens. I guess it's a better alternative than getting sick and throwing up. I know several people struggle with that. Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app
Lyndzek 2 Posted October 28, 2019 I'm struggling with that also. Certain foods or when I push to much food, I can throw up.
sleeved102819 2 Posted November 10, 2019 I'm struggling with this as well. I'm worried it's going to last forever - going to talk to my surgeon about it next week. I'm 2 weeks post op. Anyone else get relief? I have a feeling it has something to do with the stricture in my esophagus being weak after surgery. I had a hiatal hernia repair so it could be from that. So there is hope the relief will come. Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app
