Hello. Congratulations. I wish mine was in August. You're going to be fine. Happy to hear you are doing well with the preop diet. What does your surgeon have you eating? That's what I'm worried about making it through that time and being hungry. At least you only have 3 more days to go. Good luck and keep me posted 😊

I'm on a clear liquid diet. sugar free sports drinks, Water, low sodium beef broth, sugar free Jello, and sugar free popsicles. I'm also allowed Protein Drinks and blended vegetable Soup every other day, though I have to stay away from the soup 2 days before surgery. I can't believe it's almost here. I had my pre-op labs and EKG done this morning at the hospital I'll be having surgery at. It's getting real. I'll definitely keep you posted and let everyone know how surgery went. Wishing us all an easy and speedy recovery.

Good morning, I'm currently at my preop appointment. It's a all day thing. Sept 5 is rapidly approaching. Each day I'm a little more unnerved. I feel like a bride who has spent a year planning her wedding. I just want it over.

Good 4 U CJ, hope everything goes well.

Your preop diet sounds exactly like my after surgery diet. My preop diet is 1 slimfast for Breakfast 1 slimfast for lunch and a frozen lean cuisine for dinner. I can also have 1 cup of celery & carrots for a snack. I guess every doctor and every patient is different. Wishing you a speedy recovery as well.

Hi I am Sept 3, no time yet! Today is my first day of the pre-op diet. Not too bad 3 Protein Shakes a days 3oz of turkey or chicken ....1/2 cup of berries. Anyone else on the pre-op diet?

Yes I'm Sept 5 and I'm on a pre op diet. It seems like everyone has a different diet going. I'm also doing the high Protein low carbs low sugar

Yes, my surgeon gave me a general list of what I can eat. Was yours more specific? If so, what's the structure they gave you? I've had cravings but I have not given in. I'm just not pleasant to be around at the moment [emoji16]

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
