Where are my water guzzlers?

Recommended Posts

Before surgery, I drank A LOT of Water. Like, an obnoxious amount. I drank it fast, cold, and rapidly. Obviously, with the new sleeve, I am down to sips. My question for folks here who have gone through surgery, and are happy with the results ----- can you chug without crumbling in pain?

I was never a chugger, but I could drink at a normal pace within a few days (maybe a week?) of surgery and I'm a big drinker, around a gallon a day.

I'm a Water guzzler. Like you, right after surgery I was down to sips but I can pretty much chug like I used to. I don't drink any carbonated drinks but don't think I could chug them if I wanted to.....just water. I do not allow myself to chug during a workout only little sips, but after, no problem!

Yes. I played by the rules until my doc released me to drink at comfort/will. I can guzzle about 1 cup at a time. I can do cold Water now, but prefer it if it's a bit colder than room temp.

Play by the rules at first. Sip. Sip. Sip.

I'm almost 10 months out.

I was a Water chugger before wls and still am. I did sip for the first 1-2 weeks after surgery, but by week 2 I found I was able to chug away. I probably even drink more now than I did before.

The one difference between now and then is that all that water before made me feel like I was going to the washroom every 30 mins (every couple hours at night!). Now, I go like a normal person. Weird.

P.S. I know some my disapprove, but my water of choice is of the sparkling kind. I go through cases of it...I really should invest in a soda stream or something...

I prefer room temperature to slightly cool but not cold and I sip, sip, sip all day long, no chugging.

@Vance-666

you are only 4 days OLD - give your new sleeve a chance. as time passes, hopefully your new little tummy

will accept Water without pains or incidents

my NUT and i had a discussion on gulping early PO. She told me not to gulp til i felt better in general,

then i could slowly try. i've had never had a prob with drinking/gulping

you will frequently hear from OP that we're all different - NUTS/ drs.

at the end of the day, always only listen to NUT (and me😉)

good luck newbie

kathy

It took a couple of months but I can guzzle Water now fairly quickly when I'm working outside in the heat or working out at the gym. It only sometimes hurts, like if I've eaten within the last hour and I don't have a lot of sleeve space for water. But on an empty sleeve I can chug water pretty well.

I am definitely a Water chugger. It hurt pretty bad to chug water at first. For a while actually. I asked my dietitian if it would do any harm or stretch the pouch and she was like "No... but why would you do it if it hurts?" LOL BECAUSE I AM THIRSTY!

Anyways, I seem to be able to chug a fair amount now pain-free. I take large mouthfuls typically instead of chugging, when I think to do so. When you're all sweaty/hot it's annoying to take microsips.

At 6 months post I can’t guzzle Water if I have eaten in the past 1-2 hours. I can drink maybe 3-4 oz every few minutes about 90 min after eating. If I ate 30 minutes ago I can drink maybe 1-2 oz at a time with 5-10 minutes between but if it’s too much or too fast I burp and stop.

I can only drink about four ounces at a time. Don't really want to push it into a situation where it's too much ^_^

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
