I just found out that fluids don’t have restriction . They go straight through. If you picture a funnel... Fluid goes straight through & food doesn’t. That helped me because I’ve been able to take in a lot of Fluid & I was afraid I was going to stretch my tool. Won’t happen!!

Good to know!! Thanks! ! I was afraid of that too

30 days out and still a sipper. I was never a chugger as it would cause a belch and that would be embarrassing. Just a constant sipper of caffeine-free and sugar-free tea with a splash of peach Protein Water.

Five years out. I have a 2-liter running vest with a bite straw. I can finish it in about an hour and a half sipping. There is no way I can gulp the styrofoam cups of Water on the route.

I don’t think that it’s completely true that you don’t feel restriction with Water. If you haven’t had any food in hours and only have liquid, maybe, with the funnel analogy it goes right through. But if you have ANY food in your stomach at all, meaning there’s food in the narrow part of your funnel, then I don’t see how the liquid would jump the line. Surely it acts as a stopper and your stomach expands with the liquid being piped in.

Basically, if you eat two pieces of sushi and half an hour later chug a bottle of water? I definitely feel that water back up. Doesn’t anyone else feel this during meals?

Yep. I can only chug on an empty/near empty stomach. If I were to chug (or even drink a fair amount normally, for that matter) with stuff in my stomach, I’m barfing it all up.

At 10m out, I still stick to the dont-drink-for-at-least-half-an-hour-after-eating rule (but I do drink right up to before i eat, though).

I think it depends on where your at post op. For me I’m on stage 2 liquids/Semi liquids so no solids are going in. I think chiptress is also on the stage as me

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
