Liquid Diet Pre-surgery

Recommended Posts

So I’ve been doing really well I am up today at day seven. Today. I have lost 16 lbs. Not really able to tolerate the Protein Shakes very well. But staying hydrated and drinking plenty of broth. But today I caved. I had one tater tot When making dinner for my family. Does anyone know if this would undo my vertical sleeve surgery? It’s not for another seven days so I’m hoping my body can flush it out. That’s been the hardest part other than the nasty shakes is making meals because I have children while still staying on liquid. I’m kind of beating myself up about it.

You’ll be fine, but remember you are doing the pre-op diet to shrink your liver and make your surgery safer. It’s super important

Thank you. And I keep reminding myself that. Which was why I was a little horrified when I slipped. I have been so very very on liquid. And I definitely want it to be safe. I’m just going to have to finish up quickly and get out of the room. Hoping this is easier after surgery

If you’re anything like me and hate shakes, vanilla or chocolate, try the Isopure Protein Powder in the flavor mango lime. 25g Protein per scoop, mix w 8oz of Water and you got a nice juice! I also sometimes like to add some crystal light strawberry watermelon to it.

its really important to find a Protein Drink you like especially for after surgery.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
