UberChef 11 Posted August 18, 2019 I had my gastric bypass surgery this past May 16th and have a question about eating Soup. So we're not supposed to drink any liquids 30 minutes before a meal or 30 minutes after our meal, or during our meals. So what do we do when eating soup? I had chicken vegetable soup for dinner tonight and was just wondering what is the correct protocol, we are supposed to eat soup? Eat the solids and broth separately 30 minutes after consuming one or the other? I didn't do this, of course, I just ate the soup the way I have been for the past 50 years with no problems at all. I was just curious about what the "correct" way is for us WLS patients.

MeepMeep 96 Posted August 18, 2019 I eat my Soup as usual (the “normal way”) and then wait for 30 minutes to drink anything. 3 ProudGrammy, HipHopDiva and S@ssen@ch reacted to this

But my RD said as long as you don't have restriction with liquids and it goes out of your tum super quick, then you can drink right up to the point of eating. I do wait 30-45 mins after eating though.

Dorothy Sue Jastifer 19 Posted August 22, 2019 I just do Soup just as always did...... I think your main thing is you don't want to do liquids before or after if you had a solid meal because it makes it move out of your stomach faster 1 ProudGrammy reacted to this

(high in carbs, i know!)🤔 When she explained that i shouldn't/can't ever eat/drink at same time... she answered to Cereal, i could use a littttle bit of milk on top of the cereal, not much. Still too dry for me. As the months progressed, i did use more milk - oh well - slap me if you dare!!🤣 good luck kathy 2 Starflower and FluffyChix reacted to this
