Can I dump 2 hours after?

Recommended Posts

I'm almost 5 months post gastric bypass and I ate 4 strawberries with 1/4 cup blueberries 2 and a half hours ago and I feel so not good! My stomach feels full, I tried throwing up but there's nothing in there. I feel sick and not really nauseous but like I need to throw up. What's going on? help! Veterans I need you.

Hmmm. Were they fresh strawberries? Did you chew them well, or slice them small? I used to have problems with bananas when I bit of a piece. I think it would get stuck. I now slice them lengthways, so they are not round. Theoretically, you could have bitten a piece of a large strawberry, that could block the stoma. Just an idea. Eventually it would break down.

Late dumping generally gives you the same feelings as low blood sugar.

Yep this. This is what I get with RH. I have to eat some Protein and a bit of carb to fix it. I take my blood sugar reading and then dose a glucose tablet accordingly, then eat protein 30 minutes afterward (once my bg comes back up) to stabilize it.

When I eat fruit I try to eat a little yogurt or 2 pieces of walnut with it so I have Protein and fat mixed with the carbs. If I rarely eat fruit by itself it's only 1 strawberry or a 1/4 cup of blueberries.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
