vomiting/dry heaving excessively

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on 7/15. Not had any real difficulty before now. Only vommited once since surgery. However on Sunday I started feeling very nauseous and vomiting. I thought okay maybe I ate something I shouldn’t have (but couldn’t think of anything that would have caused it). Each day this week I’ve been experiencing the same thing but getting progressively worse. I called my team because a lot of what was coming up was stomach acid/bile and the prescribed pantoprazole. I’ve been taking it and while the stomach acid isn’t coming up anymore now I am dry heaving. This is t once or twice a day I mean it has happened at least 10xs so far today. I’m waiting on a call back from my team again but has anyone experienced anything like this?

I have not. I do hope that you get some answers soon and that it is nothing serious.

Hang in there and keep us posted with what you find out.

I think you're having what we call here in these forums "the foamies." It's when you throw up mucus but not food. It happens when your stomach doesn't agree with something you put in it. It's a warning signal to not eat that particular thing. I am 8 months post-op sleeve and still can't eat bread, soft tortillas or steak without getting the foamies, so I avoid them.

Call your Dr to make sure everything it ok. Are you able to keep Water done? You shouldn't be getting sick especially dry heaving.

I’m so sorry to hear you are in that much discomfort. I would try to see your surgeon as soon as possible in case of a stomach leak or issue. The sooner you see him, you can get assistance and hopefully some answers. Also, if you can’t keep Water or fluids down, be careful to not get de-hydrated. See if you can get to your doctor’s ASAP.
