So my nutrionist said not to drink Premier Protein shakes after surgery but it's okay to drink before surgery. She gave me a list of the ones that's a better choice to drink. Anyone else was told not to drink premier post op?

Premier Protein shakes are the sample my surgeons office gives out and recommends. Did they say why not premier Protein? I am curious why.

I never saw that thanks. I was panicking because that what I been using. I only do one a day now to supplement. It’s only a couple grams off. I was worried. Thanks for the info.

I suspect that they may be wanting you to go over to a drink that is 100% whey isolate, as that is better absorbed (and more expensive) than ones made from whey blends or concentrates (such as Premier). So, yes, ideally there are others that are better, but the best one is the one that you will drink (such as Premier, if that is your choice) than an "ideal" one that sits on your shelf unused because you can't tolerate it.

By all means, try the ones that they recommend (your tastes may change after surgery anyway,) and there may be one that is "better" that you like. If not, as you can see from others, Premier is a popular choice and no one is suffering unduly by using it.

As a side note, I've never tried it, as when my wife went through this years before me, we couldn't find any of the RTD products that we liked, but there is a wider selection of powders available, and we can manipulate their taste by way of what we mix it in, and what we may add to it, so when I had my WLS, I never bothered with any of the RTD products.

Premier Protein has less than 1% Whey Protein Isolate according to the ingredients on the side of their box. Whey Protein Isolate is definitely the best source of protein for weight loss surgery patients, especially if you have a malabsorptive procedure.

She said it doesn't have as much Protein as it claim to have in it. And these are better for bariatric patients.

I post pics of the ones she said is "better" but i see alot of wls patient drinking premier shakes and seems fine to me. I love the Premier Protein shakes[emoji173]

To show every facility/clinic/surgeon is different. Mines gave me samples of Unjury protein.

She's not wrong In asking you to find better quality alternatives!

Unfortunately some RTD aren't that pure or high quality like actual isolate is.

I've seen Protein powders with 50% only content but the isolate are more like 90% protein per drink.

Yes there's a price difference but aren't you paying $2 per Premier Protein shake?

Also need to be sure of sugar and fat and carbs content per shake to get the best possible results especially in the early days post op!!
