3 months post op restriction ?

Recommended Posts

A whole chicken in a day seems to be a lot at 3 months out. You have to be mindful of the portion size. Even if you can eat that much doesn't mean that it's ok. I eat no more than 2-3 ozs of chicken in a meal as chicken sits on my chest for a while and I am 3 1/2 months out. Figuring out head hunger and real hunger is crucial.

Wishing many success on your journey.

Lol you had me worried for a moment. It depends on the size of the quesadilla.

It looks delicious. I agree with Mikeyy be careful with the carbs. Once in a while is ok but remember you want to maximize your weight loss in these critical months.

I'm not sure what you're allowed on your plan at this point, but after I was a couple months out, I could eat more than I was supposed to. That's when I had to be really careful to weigh and measure things to be sure I was only eating what I was supposed to be eating.

I could not have eaten that much at 3 to 4 months post op, I do remember making low carb high Protein enchiladas around that time to 6 months and could only eat half. I rarely eat bread or low carb tortillas still because its hard for me to get it in.

I could eat that much at 3 months, but the bigger question is "Should I?" or Should YOU? :D

What is your quantity you should be having at 3 months? Cuz at 3 months, I think my total volume range per meal was between 1/2-1cup--focusing on trying not to exceed 3/4cup.

At almost 18months, I still only have a maximum volume of 1cup allowed--even though I can easily exceed that at any meal...

Just because you CAN doesn't mean you SHOULD. Watch those portions. Stay at 1/2 cup.

It is on a carb balance tortilla only 4 net carbs! I keep my carbs under 20 a day...Thanks for the advise everyone

Yeah, you have 2 groups of peeps who count carbs: those who net, and those who do not--but mostly they probably only saw the word "tortilla" and extrapolated that it was a standard carb one.

I know I was more so interested in a response about the amount of food rather than what it was, but I will be more careful and not overeat again just cuz I can! I knew it seemed like a lot...

Yep, to this day I measure and weigh everything but I'm an outlier. :) And AR. ;)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
