kristieshannon 1,668 Posted August 11, 2019 (Nurse here, have cared for many post op patients with constipation) -make sure you’re getting enough Water. Most meds to relieve Constipation need water to help them work. -walk, walk, walk -strong coffee if you can drink it If the above doesn’t work, you can try the following meds -Miralax -Milk of Magnesia -Dulcolax -senna -glycerin or bisacodyl suppositories 2 GreenTealael and Tracyringo reacted to this
MMME 89 Posted August 11, 2019 Just to add to the above: Metamucil or Benefibre are great 2 GreenTealael and Tracyringo reacted to this
Tracyringo 503 Posted August 11, 2019 Walking really does help to get things moving as stated above and I use MOM or Miralax when needed. Lots of Water will help also.
catwoman7 11,220 Posted August 11, 2019 I've taken a capful of Miralax every morning since shortly after I had surgery. I still get backed up maybe twice a month - when I do, I take Milk of Magnesia for a night or two to clear it out. 2 Tracyringo and GreenTealael reacted to this
