I really like Kumbucha and was thinking about getting into making it. Is there anyone that drinks it here? I know it has some carbonation and sugar so I wasn't sure if it was a no no.

Thanks

Your surgery date is 9/15/19, Pre-op Right? Is carbonation and sugar on your dietician’s plan?

Because I had a sleeve before they are not having me meet with a nutritionist, even though I never meet with one for my previous surgery. I have yet to have my first appointment with the surgeon other than my EGD. So I got my answer thanks!

depends on your plan - and your stomach. I don't think you'll find any surgeon who'll approve of carbonated beverages during the first few months post-op since it'd be too hard on your healing insides. After that, some surgeons seem to be OK with it, others ban it for life. I tried drinking carbonated drinks when I was a couple of years post-op, but it's too hard on my stomach, so I stopped. Some people's stomachs seem to be OK with it, though. Regardless, you'll have to give it up for at minimum the first several months after surgery - and maybe for life if your surgeon and/or stomach say so.

Catwoman7,

Thanks, I am just going to plan to not have it anymore. I don't want to chance harming myself. Everything is so different than when I was sleeved :)

Have a good day!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
