Has your face aged following surgery?

Recommended Posts

Recently i had someone trying to insist i was about 15 years younger than i am ... and i know part of this is all the weight in my face can be deceptive age wise. Just wondering if others have noticed their faces aging as they lost weight?

Curiousity only ... losing this weight is the important thing

Absolutely, especially in my neck area. I don’t mind, it’s totally worth it.

I've been told I look alot younger than I am. A couple times I've been out with my 19 y/o son who looks way older than he is and people think we're friends. It's comical. Then, one of his college profs. said there was no way I was his father. It's all very flattering. I'll take it while I can get it!!

HW = 360
SW = 292
GW = 220 reached 3/7/18
CW = 210 @ 6'5"
150 pounds lost!

Yep, I think my face looks older now with the weight loss....and my neck looks pretty ancient. I suppose chubby faces look younger than angular ones. But am seriously considering a neck lift next year...or maybe eat more carbs 😜

My face is so wrinkly now , as is my neck. I think I look like an old goon, but...…. several people have told me I look so much younger! Go figure.

I started getting much more serious with firming cream. I use Silk Therapeutics. It’s expensive, but it seems to help.

I think my neck has actually shrunk up a bit in the past few months. The turkey wattle doesn't seem as pronounced as it was at first. I think the same is true for my arm flaps. So there is hope for even old dogs like me.

I had a mini face lift, which is the neck and jaw line area after loosing the first 2/3 of my excess weight. Years later, I am on my losing the last 1/3. As usual, it comes off the face first. I met with a cosmetic surgeon last week, and I will see him in the Spring. It is a safe procedure, will update me a bit. No fat to remove, no muscle to tighten, just some loose skin. I had expected that and I am still glad I did it after losing the first 90 or so. It made a big difference.

Note that I am 62. I think young women should give it time and your skin can recover. For those of us with less elasticity, cremes won't do a lot.

yes. I was really shocked when someone offered me a "senior discount". And then it happened again! Granted, I'm old enough to be eligible at some places, but I'd NEVER been asked that because I'd always looked younger than I was. No more!! To be honest, I think I probably my age now - but the turkey neck has to go (at some time - I'm so done with plastic surgery right now!!!)

Thanks everyone who has responded so far ... interesting how much our necks impact how old we can look! and also the first time I’ve heard of the neck surgery .... thought I’d heard them all 😟 also interesting that for some it’s resulting in being younger looking and for others the opposite!

When the weight was coming off faster, I had some sagging in my face and my chin/neck looked sort of shrunken with wrinkly waddles.

Now, the weight loss has slowed and my body has done what I call "redistribution". At certain angles, I can still see some of the wrinkly waddles in my chin/neck area, but for the most part, it's sort of evened out.

As I'm staring 50 in the face, I'm pleasantly surprised at my skin. For most of my life, people have complimented me on it, even when I was super-sized. I guess I was genetically blessed in that department, plus I've always taken care of my skin. I can see the aging, sun-spots and such. But I really don't have too many wrinkles, although I do have some persistent dark circles under my eyes that I'm very self-conscious of.

For me, my flappy arms are my biggest point of shame and I will probably look into having them taken care of in the future.

You do NOT look 50. I'd peg you at mid to late 30's.

And your legs are like 20 year old legs!

      Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

      The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

        Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
