Hi. I’m 67 and finally got my surgery date. December 23rd. Whoop! I’m excited and nervous. Some may think I’m too old but as I told my dr yesterday - I’m not dead yet!!

I was almost 73 when I had mine done. You're never too old to feel better.

Just found this thread.
I was 50 when I had my sleeve on 2-6-19.
I’ll be 51 in 10 days and I’m one pound away from goal weight. It’s so exciting to know that this will be the first birthday since I turned 28 that I’ll have a normal BMI

I am scheduled for RNY on Dec 10th and I turn 64 on Dec 23rd. I’m getting nervous about my ability to sustain new eating habits long-term and not dropping back into my bad habits of the last 25 years.

Don't worry. You won't . Your much smaller stomach and hormonal changes sort of prevents you from eating too much.

What are your alternatives, though? Think of it this way... Even if you did go back to gaining a pound a year or what-have-you, you'd still probably be in a far better place for the next 25 years than you are now.

But take heart—your much smaller stomach sort of prevents you from eating too much in quantity, and the effort of going through the surgery itself goes a long way to strengthening resolve to make better quality choices. 😃

Lol, well the “how” is my sleeve.
The first 10 pounds actually came off in the 10 day pre-surgery liquid diet, the other 90 since surgery.

Cinde 52- I had my sleeve on August 28 and I am 67. I ran into a little trouble with a leak but after my doctor went back in and fixed it I am doing great. I was questioning if I was to old but I wanted to do it so bad. My body and joints were starting to give me a lot of pain. I had to do a six month doctor weight program and as today I have lost 93 pounds. I feel like a different person. I know you will do awesome. Just follow your surgeons directions and good luck.

Over 60.... hoping for surgery in... January 2020. Have LOTS of issues staying on this 'easy' low carb, high Protein diet! Still work full time, night shift. Night shift is part of the reason, I think, that I am having such an issue. I eat every 4 to 6 hours 24/7. Trying different things, but would love some support and encouragement from pre and post peers.

My son also has the same schedule. What you need to do is look into Keto high Protein foods. My son says he's never eaten more than when he switched to Keto diet for his type 1 diabetes. He's always got Jerky, cheese, almonds on hand. Most grocery stores carry protein foods and so does Amazon. I drink Ensure Max 30 g of protein and they fill me up. Protein foods fill you up, carbs spike your sugar and make you hungry in no time. Keep a small baggy of almonds around to eat or jerky with cheese. Is it easy, some days better than others. But living with obesity and food being your best friend is fun either. You can do it if you focus on what you can do and eat rather than what you can't do. Browse the keto, high protein section in your markets you may be surprised. They even have ice cream. You can do it.

Last year, at 65 yrs old, I had my life saving and life changing VSG surgery and I've never looked back!!

I've lost 95# and wear size 4-6! Being thin and strong makes life so wonderful! I do one hour of cardio and 45 minutes of weight lifting every other day. My inches are quickly getting smaller.

So fun when running into people who I haven't seen for awhile...they don't recognize me at all.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Lost my Pup last month and struggled really hard for that first month. Stopped tracking intake and slid into old habits here and there. Also quit working out. Can't walk in the neighborhood because of all of the memories we shared. Losing my Pup is the most heartbreaking thing I've ever been through. My Pup was my world 💔
Talked to my doc during my one year followup and they were not worried about my current status. They know, and I know, that I will get back on track.
