I turned 67 right before my sleeve surgery. Along the pre - op journey of six months I had two heart stents put in and did very well. Two of my daughters had the sleeve surgery and encouraged me to get it done. I have been overweight most of my life and was now having back and knee pain. I was excited to be approved and had my surgery on 8/28/19 . Things went good till my blood pressure bottomed out , so my surgeon went back in to look for a leak. Whatever was going on he fixed it and after five days in hospital , I am home and doing great. I don't regret any of my process. I am at 4 weeks today and now have hit a stall for a week but I know I am still on track and the stall will end.

I am 65, and just had the sleeve on Tuesday, Sept 24. Finding it hard to get all the Water in, and need to go shopping for som of the clear type of Protein Drinks. I never thought I could be sick of chocolate- but I really do not look forward to another one, and I have bottles and powders of chocolate shakes! Lol. [emoji2]

Waking has been hard, cause I just so tired, and the incisions still hurt, but I am walking, just not enough!

There is a group of those over 65 that have had the surgery. I had mine at 72 almost 73. I'm hoping the knees hurt less and that I get off the c-pap machine. No issues so far, I'm 2 months out. I'm just a bit impatient with the stalls. Mobility has improved and energy has also improved.
Many congrats.

I had sleeve surgery last year, 8/18, I’ll be 59 at the end of this month. I hit my stretch goal about 11 months in. I’m only a few months past a year but so far it’s been very easy to maintain.
I did lose slower than a lot of people but it did come off!
Congrats.

After surgery, for about 3 weeks your taste buds will be all out of wack due to your body going through Ketosis. I just added ice to my Protein Drink I used Ensure Max, and it still tasted God awful. Gradually it became more tolerable and back to liking it again. In the first three weeks I tried to get in 2 a day to get the Protein. It all gets better. I found the clear protein drinks far too sweet. Good luck.

I am 2 1/2 months out and about 50 pounds down. My knees hurt less and I'm looking forward to our camping trips. I'm having trouble staying in clothes, not a problem though. I found 3 trash bags of clothes in the attic that I had "outgrown" so I'm sifting through them. When I go into a restaurant I know I can sit anywhere. I also check the menu online and know exactly what I will be ordering. I also take a small plastic container with me for all the leftovers. My sister suggested a thermal lunch bag with container so you can keep it cool. I'm making plans for trips and travels. None of this would be possible before. I'm 73 and now I have some good years ahead. It had been a year since I was upstairs, now I go up and down without any issue. I know food is not my friend and it was limiting the rest of my life. I eat what I need and I no longer need everything I see. I feel that I control the rest of my life, my body no longer restricts it.
Many congrats. More mobility! Great!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
