Gastric Sleeve post op

Recommended Posts

So I had my surgery 12-31-18 and I have lost 110 pounds so far. I’m still about 40-50 away from my goal and I haven’t lost any weight in about a month. Im not gaining but I’m not loosing. I’m drinking all my Water. Taking all my Vitamins and working out. I’m also still losing my hair pretty bad. I guess I’m in a stall. How do I resolve this y’all?

Hi!

You can Experiment :

Diligently *DILIGENTLY* Diligent track your food for 1 week, see exactly how much cals, carbs, Protein & fat you are consuming. If there is no change in your weight for that week, this is most likely your maintenance level.

To test this you could:

Start off moderately and reduce your cals by 250 per day for the next week to see if you lose atleast 1/2 lb

(7×250= 1750; *USUALLY* to lose 1 lb of fat you need to be in a deficit of 3500 cals per week or -500 cals per day)

Please remember that things don't always go by the book and other factors should be taken into account such as: medication use (especially antidepressants and steriods), physical activity levels (or lack thereof), age, gender, and if you are already at a realistic goal (despite it being different from your personal goal)

OR

It could just be a stall and nothing you do will change it. Wait it out 😒

Good Luck 💜

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
