My doc said its the typical shedding cycle of hair normally every 6months, but it can happen sooner for some and mixed with the surgery and how it depletes your body its normal to have a lot of Hair loss. I'm not shedding yet, but my hair is dry at the ends. It seriously feels like hay at the ends I was super shocked because I normally have very thick hair and my ends usually feel full and thick too. But now it feels like dry grass lol. Its so weird I had my husband feel and he even said it felt like dry grass too lol. I'm probably gonna get my ends cut and see if it makes a difference in the tips feeling so dry.

I have very thick hair, but I think I have lost about 1/3 of my hair

I also lost about 1/3 of my hair, with 3 distinct bald Patches. It was quite troubling, but a nearly 100# weight loss (so far) is definitely worth it.

I don't think I was getting enough Protein for awhile so I increased it plus using special Shampoo and Biotin supplements. It fell out from about 4-7 months postop...started growing back at about 10-11 months. I'm at 14 months postop now and alot of new hair is coming in.

But the strangest thing...I've always had straight hair but it's grown in curly!!! Not kinky or frizzy, but beautiful curls! And I can pull it out straight too. My hairdresser cut a beautiful style and the curls help cover the small bald patches left. Anyone else have their hair grow in different? I've heard of cancer patient's hair growing in differently, but they usually lose it all.

Hi,
I take Biotin and use Viviscal. It does a great job and I love how it smells and I have a lot of new growth. My hair seems to be growing fast. 20191011_190107.jpeg

I have been blessed m whole life with curly hair (sometimes I curse it) But I have been following the "Curly Girl Method" and I belong to a FB group called Curly Girls where you can find much info on products and such. Your hair is beautiful!

I’ve lost a significant amount of hair from sleeve, bypass and autoimmune disease. Nothing has helped so far. Biotin is great to try and keep existing hair healthy but I’ve never read anything that says it helps with Hair loss. As your weight and diet stabilize it will come back. I’ve been told 9-12 months

Yes. I was notified by my nutritionist that this would happen between 3 and 6 months but not to panic as it does not damage the follicle and the hair will grow back. That’s why getting lots of Protein is important. I already had baby fine hair that was growing thin so I ordered and began taking a Biotin supplement. My Hair loss has been minimal but I am having trouble with my fingernails. All I have to do is barely touch something and they break so I am just keeping them short.

I started dipping my nails. Sometimes natural and sometimes tips. I do it at home and it lasts for weeks. Makes my nails strong and beautiful!! If you have time it’s really fun to learn and as long as everything behaves, soothing

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
