Karen58 11 Posted August 4, 2019 Hi there I have noticed that my hair seems to be falling out. Is this normal. I am 3 months post op sleeve. If it is does it stop? Any recommendations of anything to take for it? Many thanks
Healthy_life2 8,324 Posted August 4, 2019 Your surgeon should have told you this is a normal part of the healing process. It will stop over time. Some things to try: Get your Protein and Vitamins in. Biotin or collagen, toppik to cover thinning areas, Nioxin Shampoo for thinning hair, Argon oil,
catwoman7 11,220 Posted August 4, 2019 yep - very common. I'm surprised you weren't informed of this. Unfortunately, there's not much you can do about it - if it's gonna happen, it's gonna happen. But it'll stop after a few weeks or months and then grow back. For most of us, even though WE notice, it's not enough for other people to notice. And it's a small price to pay in exchange for the weight loss.
GradyCat 3,695 Posted August 4, 2019 Very common. I take Biotin supplements every day, I use Nioxin Shampoo and Conditioner and I'm using Minoxidil.
Lynda486 784 Posted August 4, 2019 I just wish Biotin didn't cause such horrible Constipation
S@ssen@ch 745 Posted August 4, 2019 Perfectly normal, and sounds like it's right on track at 3 months. Look up: Tellogen Effluvium Not much you can do about it but wait it out. It gets better.

Will that old help? Do you put on the hair itself or scalp? I have oily scalp. Thanks!

You just rub a little bit into your hair, concentrating especially the dryer ends. I do think it helps it look less brittle and a bit more shiney. I am just starting to lose some hair, so I am hoping it will help keep the 3 strands I may be left with soon looking healthy... 😆 1 makisue reacted to this

I have an oily scalp and need to wash my hair every day. So, now it is becoming very dry and brittle. I am using the ogx Shampoo with Biotin and it makes it feel good, but still there is no shampoo I can use to extend having to wash my hair. Occasionally I will use the dry shampoo and go an extra day, but that makes my hair feel crunchy and dry. I looked this stuff up and I am going to go get some tomorrow as well as the spray in conditioner. Hopefully, things will get better soon. 🤞🤪 1 FluffySaysForkIt! reacted to this

looly 361 Posted October 6, 2019 I took Biotin. I had a bit of Hair loss around the 4-6 month mark, but it grew back. It's just a temporary thing - don't sweat it. The weight loss will last much longer! 😉 2 Chardonnay40 and PlanetHopper reacted to this
PlanetHopper 86 Posted October 7, 2019 Thank you for your encouragement. It's definitely hard for me to be accepting of the Hair loss as a side effect because a lot of my identity is within my tightly curly hair. I have always thought of it was my best feature. darcyjae 106 Posted October 7, 2019 The hair dies during the trauma you undergo during surgery, so there's nothing you can really do to keep it from falling out eventually. What you CAN do is encourage new Hair growth. (And yes, that will mean new hairs may push those old ones out.) I am over 50 and had been experiencing some thinning anyhow since I had my daughter at 40, so this was a big concern for me. I have been using Aveda's Invati Shampoo and treatment and also rubbing a few drops of CBD oil into the front of my scalp a few times a week and taking some collagen now and then—and wow, I've got a halo of new baby hairs growing in now. Practically a fringe. I think the best that can be done is to focus on growing healthy new hair, rather than trying to keep hairs that are already effectively lost with silly things like not brushing or using special pillow cases. My two cents anyhow. 😃
