Happy Saturday, Y'all!

Recommended Posts

Woke up early today and trying to enjoy some peace and quiet with my coffee before we have to go out and buy a new mower, school supplies for the kids, and pick up for company coming tonight. Busy days like this are ones I don't always find time to sit down and eat slowly and get all my Water in. Anyone else struggle with diet compliance on busier days??

I'm more compliant on busy days because I don't get boredom hunger or have time to have head hunger. I still get the Water and Protein in.

Happy Saturday! Yes, I find that if my day is moderately busy, I am more apt to “stick to the plan” and just get what my body needs..without wanting, or thinking about the extras. It definitely helps me to plan ahead lol

I'm more compliant when busy. But I have to pre-plan and pack meals if I want them. Otherwise it's easy available stuff for b/l and super KISS leftovers for din with only a nuked veg. So it's bare bones eating.

I have this little “baby yeti bag” (it’s actually a Magellan from Academy) as I like to call it that comes with me every time I am going to be gone more than an hour or so along with a full yeti cup of liquids. I put an ice block in it and I’ll bring a ready made Protein, Water to refill my cup, and a couple grab and go protein options like baby bel, Turkey, turkey pepperoni, boiled egg, boiled shrimp and I keep some crystal light packs and clear protein packs in the front pouch . It stays really cold and it’s a lot easier to avoid temptation if I already have what I need right there.

For someone with "chaos" in her username, you are VERY organized! Lol.

Thank you! I am organized to a fault. But the chaos refers to my children, 2,7 ....... & 34 😂 and our double rotating shift work, multiple extra curricular crazy schedule lol It’s constant chaos.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
