Almost SURGERY day :) YAAY

Recommended Posts

Tuesday I had my Pre-admitting appointment where I will be having my surgery and when they handed me my folder of information for surgery day with the soap and the breathing device, made everything more real. Can’t believe I only have 2 weeks and 2 days till Surgery Day!! I will be having my Pre-op Office visit with my surgeon on the 12th (anyone know what happens at the pre-op office visits?).

I know the next two weeks will be going by fast .

They pretty much they ask you if you have any questions.. they tell you who will be attending the surgery with your doctor..
Blood test and they tell you what you can and can't do a week before your date...
I just had my pre-op 7-30-2019
I go under 8-2-19

They had me sign consent forms and go get blood work. He asked if I had any questions. Congrats on your upcoming surgery! It's an exciting time!

I had my preop class 4hrs and preop visit with surgeon immediately afterwards today.
Exactly what Big_ange said. Questions answered. Once again review preop and post OP expectations and medicines. Discuss surgery day and what to expect. Discuss pain management both meds and alternatives. I'd done labs, xrays and ekg a month ago, just reviewed it again.
No preop diet for my surgical team. Exactly 14 more days to go. [emoji114][emoji114][emoji114][emoji114][emoji169][emoji169][emoji169][emoji169]

The soap is to disinfect and the breathing device is for after surgery to help taking in deep breaths and
“ An incentive spirometer is a device used to help you keep your lungs healthy after surgery or when you have a lung illness, such as pneumonia. Using the incentive spirometer teaches you how to take slow deep breaths.”

Three days after mine. Other than all of the medicine they gave me to take to keep the stomach coated and stop reflux the only thing I've eaten is pop cycles. I bought the Outshine no sugar added. They are fruit bars as I can't tolerate sugar-free stuff. They are wonderful and my best friend to take away the taste of the medicine.

The soap is to disinfect the night before surgery & if there is any soap left, shower with it the day of surgery to make sure you are clean b4 leaving to go to hospital.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
