Yes. But not for a while. It is so high in calories and hard to stop at 1 tablespoon. I am 6 months out and very close to goal. I will have a tablespoon of Peanut Butter on a rice cake ONCE IN A WHILE, as I am gradually raising my calories to ease into maintenance. I am also getting all my other daily nutritional requirements met first. Early on, however, you need to focus on Protein and then getting the veggies, legumes/beans, and at least 2-3 months before adding nuts and seeds.

I didn't start eating nut butters until after I was done losing weight because of all the calories.

I do eat it regularly now though, for the very reason I avoided it before.

yep. I don't think I ate it at all during the weight loss phase, but I do now during maintenance. Not a ton - maybe a tablespoon here and there.

Are you ever allowed to have Peanut Butter again?

I ate Peanut Butter almost 4 weeks post op. Still eat it and love it! The fat or calories dont bother me. I only have a TBS on a spoon when i do and take 10mins to lick it off. Its helped me the most actually with this process. It got me through the day and gave me energy. Everything you eat has to be eatten in moderation no food is going to be off limits for the rest of your life with wls.

I believe people just say no because once you have a lick they think you wont be able to stop. I need to feel sane and normal im not going to eat like a Protein drinking nut that only eats veggies and healthy meat. Cant do it. Thats not my reality. Every body is different some could use more healthy fats than others. Every morning i have that TBS of creamy skippy and it works for me.

My docter said no to everything his reasoning was cuz once you taste something you crave it and once you have say 4 wheat thins 6months down the road you are eatting the whole box.. thats not me so i do me now so to speak and eveytime i go in to see him he says whatever im doing is working for me and keep it up. So best of luck on your weight loss journey.

I love it, but it seems to stick in the back of my throat so I avoid it

Initially I had the PB powder mixed into milk or yogurt. you can mix it with Water to make a great tasting Peanut Butter too. I am in maintenance now so 1-2 times a week I will eat 1 tablespoon of peanut butter if I need the calories and Protein. Early on I would even put 2-3 tablespoons of cool whip in a bowl and sprinkle the PB powder on top and sometimes add a teaspoon of sugar free Hershey Syrup so I felt like I was eating a peanut butter ice cream treat.

As everyone said, nuts and nut butters are high in fat and carbs for a much smaller Protein return. So at first, I don't think they are very good tummy real estate investment.

At first, I had so many problems with them. They made me so nauseous--cuz of the fat and heaviness of them.

But I was able to do the PB2 just fine (de-fatted) and that is actually a pretty good calorie bargain. It mixes well in smoothies and Greek yogurt.

Now I can finally deal with an ounce of nuts or 1-2Tbsp of nut butter. But I do make sure they fit my macro goals for the day. It adds all three macros: fat, carbs, protein.

I just bought and tried "Naked PB" in my vanilla Protein Shake. It was really good! Of the powdered peanut butters, I liked the nutrient contents best with this brand. Some complain about the lower salt content, but it was perfectly fine for me! I think I will use it when I want to add a little extra Protein to my Protein Shakes or simply change the flavor. I might also use it if I make some smoothies later. Should last a long time and mixed very well.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
