pssk 225 Posted August 1, 2019 I just got my surgery date of 10/15/19. I wish it was sooner but I know it will be here soon enough. I was a little nervous about RNY when my surgeon recommended it to me over VSG but I’m coming around to it now. For some reason the thought of a remnant stomach floating around in my body seems odd. I also don’t like that they can’t endo ever again in case something goes bad with it. My other fear is that an adhesion will mess up my intestines. I had an adhesion once from C sections that attached to my intestines and had to be cut. Anyone have adhesion issues or experiences? Despite my worries, I am quite excited by the wonderful results I see everyone achieving! Thanks everyone! 1 GreenTealael reacted to this
catwoman7 11,220 Posted August 1, 2019 the stomach isn't floating around - it's still there. They just put a line of staples across your stomach to divide it between pouch and the remnant stomach. RNY IS reversible - but it's a complicated surgery and they'll only do it if the patient has some serious medical issues. (btw - VSG is NOT reversible, since they remove 80% of your stomach and throw it away) those intestinal problems you mentioned can happen, but they are pretty rare. New&Improved 1,780 Posted August 2, 2019 Yeah think of it like a zipper in between your stomach and your pouch keeping it separated VSG slices your stomach and throws it in the bin...
