💜AUGUST 2019 CHALLENGE💜

Recommended Posts

Good Afternoon Team:

Today's challenge item includes taking a bubble bath (I have to take a bubble shower because I'm still in the perioperative stage 😒)

B-Side Question:

What are your absolute favorite bath/shower products or routines?

Day 4.
Family is taking the red eye to Miami to embark on a cruise to the Bahamas. After a whirlwind day yesterday getting everything together, I needed a zen moment this morning. So I went to Yin Yoga again this morning and then took my girls to a mani/pedi.

I plan to take a bath in our Jacuzzi that I've only used like 5 time EVER! I'm truly a type A and can never find time to actually soak and enjoy it, there's always "mommy this or mommy that" that it's just not worth the effort thinking I have the time!
So because of this challenge, I'm doing everything needed...sorting out the girls, luggage ready so I can later soak.

Side B: I have different bath bombs I've gotten from friends and family over the years that my daughters enjoy more than I do. There's a pumpkin spice one I hid that I plan to use today.
Generally my favorite bath routine is the longest shower ever way past kids bedtime and right before I jump in bed. It's like washing off the stress of the day. I get in bed and my eyes shut instantaneously! My husband jokes that my sleep onset time is 0.005 seconds [emoji1][emoji1][emoji176][emoji176][emoji176][emoji176][emoji176][emoji176][emoji176][emoji176]

Hello,

So the book I've started is Neither Wolf nor Dog. I went for a walk with a friend on Saturday evening and I definitely got my 40 minutes of cardio between that and the gym. Yesterday, I did a teeny bit of stretching but not enough. Hopefully today, I'll get some yoga in and then I can call yesterday my rest day. I took a bath with a bath bomb...I haven't taken a bath in years...so nice to do that again. So nice to have shrunk back to where such an activity is enjoyable again! We'll call that a victory! Well, I'm on social media so there goes that challenge for the day! LOL. But I'll try to keep it to a minimum. Happy Monday!

Probably a little late to submit but. if I were to pen my Autobiography the title I have selected would be
"MORE IN SORROW THAN IN ANGER"- chose that back in my Teen Years, still like it after All These Years.

Today I'm supposed to disconnect from social media...does that include us? I'm thinking this isn't happening today. ;)

Doesn't have to be all day/every social media site but atleast a conscious effort to disconnect 💜

Lol, I’m FNALLY able to be back after hell weekend (worked 13’s both Saturday and Sunday. I have to work every 4th weekend and it’s brutal. Basically you go into survivor mode for 3 days because you’re actually working more hours than you’re off.

Okay, so since today is my ONLY day off, I just can’t dismiss social media today.
Also don’t wanna take a rest day. 🤣🤣

I’m off for a haircut this morning and I’m still in the active phase of losing hair.
Last spring I decided I was going to grow my hair out so I’m stubbornly refusing to cut it short.
Hopefully by the next time I’m needing a trim I’ll be past the massive hair losing stage of this

Also have 2 Pilates classes scheduled this afternoon and they’re both intermediate level.
When I injured myself in early July I had to slow down a lot so it’s a good feeling to know I’m going to be pushing myself again.

Have been reading each day..and then realized...I haven't 'started' yet.

Someone else just mentioned their grueling work hrs. Was so nice to hear from someone else who just went through an incredibly brutal work week/weekend. One of the reasons I haven't 'made time' to start yet is the INSANITY at my work. My boss KNOWS I had surgery on 7/25. His wife had lap band surgery yrs ago and lost a decent amount of weight so he is partially familiar with the process and knows an RNY is a big surgery. Was crushed when he asked me to work this weekend after already working 73 hr work week. Actually, I felt kind of betrayed, especially as he asked on a group conf call.

I'm so tired I've been tearing up all day and I'm not even THINKING or aware that I'm thinking of anything! I feel like a hot mess right now with the work thing. This week promises to be more of the same and I just feel...dread (on the work front).

OK, back to our challenge

Start by:

1. Personal goal is to keep hydrated, keep Protein up and to keep gently pushing boundaries on moving/doing more things even with knee issue. I need to keep moving! An emotional/mental goal is to learn how to cope with the crazy demands at work without falling apart (especially as one of the only women in a male dominated group)

2. RNY surgery on 7/25 so I'm 12 days out

3. 320 (from a high of 390 15 months ago) and my BMI is almost close to 50. Would need to look @ my profile again..lol

4. When I had kids, I wanted to get out of Corp. America so while working insane hours back then as well and having 2 kids, I trained as an Apprentice Midwife - also was working on certification as a Doula. Then I realized after almost 2 yrs, all of these things were not sustainable and in TX a midwife cannot get liability insurance. What a joy it was to observe and assist in so many births, though!!

Catch up on Happiness Challenge:

#1 Wake up 30 mins earlier than normal – oddly this weekend I woke up an hr before normal and felt energized which is weird @ 300 calories a day

#2 Read an inspiring book DONE! IRead Gmorning, Gnight!: Little Pep Talks for Me & You

#3 Go for a walk outside – DONE! Walked outside and around Dillard’s Outlet

#4 Take a bubble batch – Not Done. Post-Op and didn’t take shower on that day

#5 Disconnect from Social Media – DONE - I work so much on computer am RARELY on FB. Just this forum which is essential to my support.

Good afternoon. Just updating...made it to the gym before lunch and when I went home for lunch, I did 20 minutes of yoga - sun salutations to be exact. I missed a couple of B-sides...I was thinking about places I miss...well PA where I came from is one but I think it's actually a place in time that I miss more...and then, when I think about it, not sure that's what I miss either. But PA for sure because that's where my oldest friends are and still some family. I can't say that I have any favorite bath products or any particular routine....but I did feel very pampered after my bath last night so maybe I can re-establish that on a weekly basis.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
