Slushy stage question

Recommended Posts

I'm sure all dr rules vary, but mine was 1/2 hr before and at least 1 hr after, for any meals. She wanted me to get ready for solid foods and be used to not drinking

I GOT A QUESTION, i know we cant drink a certain time before a meal or after but i have breakfast with a friend a few times a week and we normally have toast and a coffee, ..so i need to wait 1/2 hr after the toast and then have the coffee? IS THAT RIGHT?

It was my understanding that you do not have liquids at all while you're eating, so yes on the coffee/toast question.

My doctor recommends a half hour before and a half hour after - no liquids.< /p>

I've heard up to 15 minutes prior to eating you can drink. Maybe have your coffee while you wait for your food and then forgo through the meal. When I got to eat out with family and friends I usually do NOT follow the no drink rule. I am good the entire rest of the time, but I like my ice tea with conversation, or my glass of wine with my meal. Life as we know it in this planet will not end because of it and it's not like I "backslide" then and do it all the time. I reserve it for "special occasions."

My Dr recommends nothing to drink 1/2 hour prior or during and 1/2 hour after the meal. He told me for the band to work at its highest potential that the food needs to stay in the pouch for as long as possible.

If you drink while eating it just pushes the food right through and defeats that purpose. Also the liquid expands the pouch too much if combinded with food.

I knew from the get go that would be the hardest part for me. But actually it has not been too bad. What is so funny is going to a resturaunt and how they look at you when you tell them nothing to drink. Not even Water.....:)

I have stuck to this rigidly since he told me how important it was. I amke sure to drink right up to that point before and I am very hydrated so it has not been an issue for me.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
