AtlantaGirl 9 Posted July 26, 2019 Hey guys. So, my nutritionist said I can have absolutely NO carbonation again in terms of drinks. She said it stretches the sleeve and should not have any carbonated beverages again. My understanding was that it was just for the first six months. What have your surgeons or nutritionists said about it? I am not talking soda, just other carbonated beverages! 1 GreenTealael reacted to this

sillykitty 10,776 Posted July 26, 2019 Different surgeons have different opinions on this. Some allow, while others don’t 1 GreenTealael reacted to this

notmyname 593 Posted July 26, 2019 I was told never again. I can say that I had to take a carbonated drink-thing to have some gastro tests done a few months after surgery and even a little bit of it was super painful. 1 GreenTealael reacted to this

mrblond 56 Posted July 26, 2019 everyone is different. My program also says no carbonated stuff.. I say try a little, see how you do. I cant imagine though the belching that would be involved. hard enough drinking non carbonated drinks and not burping all the time.,
mrblond 56 Posted July 26, 2019 wow, watched that video and it contradicted most of what my program said.😱 So funny how different things are depending on who you talk to. 1 336Mike reacted to this
336Mike 554 Posted July 27, 2019 It was explained to me that it's less about any type of pouch impact and more about your mindset. Carbonated beverages are usually high calorie sodas or beer. Neither are things you should really have when you're trying to lose or maintain your weight loss. And let's face it, diet sodas are no good for your body in general either. Bianca S. 195 Posted July 27, 2019 I was told no carbonated beverage especially soda because the carbonation makes your stomach expand. How my nutritionist explained is your stomach is a balloon and you put helium (the carbonation) into the balloon. What does the balloon do? It expands
Mzmarthaperez 3 Posted July 27, 2019 I was told no carbonated drinks at all. It expands your body too eat more you wouldn't want that too happenSent from my moto g(6) play using BariatricPal mobile app
Jeelena2019 29 Posted July 27, 2019 The answer is no you aren’t suppose to ever drink carbonated drinks. My surgeon also recommended no gum chewing or drinking with straws.

My surgeon didn’t really say not to but recommended not to just so I don’t get stomach discomfort or get trapped air
Kris77 1,538 Posted July 28, 2019 My surgeon said no carbonated beverages ever. I’m a year out and haven’t had any and I don’t plan to ever.
