I’m having surgery tomorrow and I just want to know...

It really depends on your own tolerance level. Everyone heals different and at their own pace. A lot of those foods you mentioned caused so much discomfort for the first nine 9 months, I didn't even want to look at them. But at nearly 15 months out I can eat almost an entire slice of NYC slice sized pizza but it is still rather uncomfortable. And its really not something I indulge in more than once or twice a month because I feel so bloated afterwards. Burgers, if I take off the top fluffier part of the bun, I can eat half of a restaurant sized burger.

I am not going to preach, but regain is real, my friend. Just be careful and remember--salad is on almost every menu.

Hi Everybody!

thanks for all the input! I’m definitely ready for the surgery, last night I was just REALLY hungry and I’m the midst of an anxiety attack. I hope I never desire any of those things again, and I’m looking forward to experiencing a life of moderation! Sorry for the scare! And thanks for the well wishes!

Good luck on your WLS journey

Hi Y’all! I’m four days out and still in the hospital. Overall I’m doing well, but was having slight complications with my bladder so I’ve stayed to be on the safe side. Really excited to start this journey, and thankful for everybody and their support.

Wow 4 days you must be going crazy to get out. So sorry about the complications are you having trouble urinating? I struggled the first 24 hours but it was the Dilaudid for me.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
